8 freebies (yes, FREEBIES!) you can get at Changi Airport Terminal 4

At first glance, Changi Airport’s newly-opened Terminal 4 (T4) looks just like its predecessors: slabs of decorative lights adorn its tall ceilings, while an archipelago of armchairs beckon meandering passengers – if they have enough time between shopping and eating for a nap.

See, if there’s one thing we don’t like about arriving at the airport early, it’s that we always end up buying things we don’t really need, all in the name of avoiding GST. And with 80 stores and restaurants, including four retail stores that are new to Changi Airport, the temptation, upon stepping into T4, is real.

Thankfully, T4 has loads of complimentary experiences (in other words, free things) to distract you from the temptation to spend. We’re talking hand massages, a drone testing cage, and lots of alcohol tasting stations during peak hours. Just try not to drink too much, lest your “free experiences” turn into a round of drunken shopping.

Here are the free things you can do in T4 while waiting for your flight.

A word of advice: make sure you enter T4 on a full stomach, because there are complimentary alcohol samplings galore, starting with DIY cocktails at The Cocktail Bar.

This should be a familiar sight to anyone who’s visited Terminal 2. T4’s whiskey tasting station separates its offerings into four flavour profiles.

Take a break from the tastings to peruse the skincare zone, where you can get a complimentary hand massage at Jo Malone. Goodness knows we need this after hauling our luggage through Departures.

Celebrate Singapore by visiting the heritage cocktails station, where you can sip drinks inspired by gula melaka, coconut, and pandan cake. A steady supply of rainbow kueh will help ensure that they have something to land on.

Not only is T4’s TWG humongous (there are 2,000 tins inside this store alone), but its tasting section is unique to Changi Airport. A definite must-stop for tea aficionados, or for people who ordered a little too liberally at the alcohol sampling sections.

Travel through yesteryear at Curry Times’ delightfully old-school restaurant interior. Those coin-operated airplanes really work, by the way.
