This is possibly one of the most value-for-money set lunch offerings in town, given the restaurant's snazzy get-up in newish hotel Hotel G. At $18, you get to take your pick from a daily rotating menu of salads, sandwiches and pastas created specially for the lunch crowd and not available on the usual lunch menu. A glass of wine starts at $6 if you're so inclined.

Priced at $18 for two courses. Available on weekdays from 11am to 3pm.

You need to drive to get to Morsels' new home at Dempsey, but chef-owner Petrina Loh's wonderfully inventive and delicious food is well-worth the effort. Set lunch here is a weekly-changing menu of noodle bowls, each served with an appetiser. Think fancy options like rice vermicelli in a spicy prawn bisque and with grilled wild Sri Lankan tiger prawns, or somen with oyster done a la plancha and slow-cooked shredded Sakura chicken.

Priced at $25 per set. Available Tuesday to Friday, noon to 3pm.

The Wall may be more known for its extensive collection of whiskies and sumiyaki offerings, but its new rice bowl sets are not to be sniffed at either. Options include a meatless Yasai Mori Donburi with an assortment of charcoal grilled vegetables, and the heartier and meatier Yakitori Donburi featuring The Wall's signature minced chicken balls with chopped cartilage and yuzu peel.

Japanese cuisine gets a touch of Korean influence here at Akira Back. The Grilled Spring Chicken set lunch ($28) for example, features chicken marinated in a spicy Korean kochujang marinade, and comes served with a daily appetiser and dessert. If you're feeling fancy, Akira Back also offers posher options with main courses like Wagyu Ribcap Toban ($45) and Sashimi-don ($40).
