Bonnie Loo

What she ate: A Chinese New Year get-together feast with friends including He Ying Ying, Pan Lingling, and Aileen Tan.

Yummy factor: This encapsulates the “eat, drink and be merry” spirit all right. We also spy an empty Chinese New Year snack jar, no “paiseh piece” left behind.

What she ate: A breakfast of fried egg with noodles and milk

Yummy factor:  Whatever Carrie’s eating, if it’s giving her that flawless porcelain complexion, we’re on it.

What she ate: Her mum’s ngoh hiang (deep fried minced pork rolls)

Yummy factor: The golden brown colour is a telltale sign of deliciousness. That first bite into the savoury beancurd skin, releasing the glorious juice of the moist meat roll inside your mouth? Heavenly.

What he ate: Thai roti and Thai milk tea at Rod Fai Market

Yummy factor: Roti drizzled with condensed milk and sugar is a must-eat in Thailand, but we’ve seen crispier ones than this. Dylan seemed to satisfied though, writing, “I can have this for supper every night,” followed by a heart eyes emoji.

What she ate: Pineapple tarts

Yummy factor: This reminds us that one of the best parts about Chinese New Year is all the post-holiday pineapple tarts going on sale – and you don’t even have to share them with relatives.

What she ate: Soft shell crab sushi

Yummy factor: Ah, the irresistible, delicate crunch of soft shell crabs. Add toasted sesame seeds and a heap of mentaiko mayo with fish roe to the mix, and it’s no wonder Jacelyn feels she could eat five plates.

What she ate: Love Actually lychee martini cheesecake from Cat and the Fiddle

Yummy factor: Rose (petals), fruity cocktail and sweets make this cake a Valentine’s 3-in-1 gift. And would you take a look at how thick that crumbed base is?

What he ate: A mountain of yu sheng, which amounts to approximately three days’ worth of meals for any normal toddler – except this one, apparently

Yummy factor: If he really had this yu sheng all to himself, the “little boss of the house” is going to have a very auspicious year indeed.

What she ate: Rooster cake for Chinese New Year

Yummy factor: Baby Qi’s reaching hand tells us she couldn’t wait to try the cake. The yellow frosting’s so bright it’s almost radioactive, but at least the texture imitates rooster fuzz.

What he drank: Hot chocolate, which we initially mistook as just another regular cup of Starbucks coffee

Yummy factor: “I think I might be addicted to hot chocolate,” Noah wrote. Why are we not surprised that out of all folks, Noah would be the one afflicted with this addiction?

What he ate: Mama Thai instant noodle salad for roughly S$1.60 in Bangkok

Yummy factor: Sure, it’s loaded with MSG and processed meat, but we dare you to resist. One whiff of the chili, lime juice and fish sauce seasoning is enough to make your nose prickle with longing.

What she ate: A reunion steamboat of fish balls, tofu, salted egg meatballs, prawns, and hot dogs.

Yummy factor: It could be the filter, but when a fishball is glowing like that it’d better taste divine.
