Foodie Friday: What the stars ate this week (May 12 to May 19)

All the photos that made us hungry this week

Zoe Tay
18 May 2017

Zoe Tay

What she ate: Fried carrot cake, braised pork trotter bee hoon, and toast at Jubilee Coffee House and Bar

Yummy factor: The omelette-like carrot cake alone would make one person full, but Zoe looks ready to crush this superabundant meal. When she's got her sleeves pushed up, that's when you know.

Sonia Chew
18 May 2017

Sonia Chew

What she ate: Ice cream in Sapporo, Japan

Yummy factor: “Ice cream is life,” Sonia wrote. When someone’s gripping four cones at once, you know she means it.

Cynthia Koh
18 May 2017

Cynthia Koh

What she ate: Cotton candy and coffee at Karmakarmet Diner in Thailand

Yummy factor: In about 30 seconds, this lovely cotton candy cloud probably dissolved in a sticky mess on her chin, but at least its prettiness was documented on Instagram for the rest of us to appreciate.

Carrie Wong and her pooch Gege

Carrie Wong and her pooch Gege

What they ate: Gege's birthday cake

Yummy factor: Nothing gets a dog more excited than a bone-shaped cake and treats. Wonder what they taste like...

Carole Lin
18 May 2017

Carole Lin

What she ate: Carole baked raspberry ombre cake at ABC Cooking Studio.

Yummy factor: Wow, how professional-looking! There’s got to be at least one to two servings of fruit in this cake, so bonus points there.

Chen Ning
18 May 2017

Chen Ning

What she ate: Fried chicken, held in an expert forefinger-and-thumb pinch to lessen greasy prints

Yummy factor: She looked serious about chowing down. Seeing as it was on the skinny side, this crispy drumstick didn't stand a chance.

Felicia Chin
18 May 2017

Felicia Chin

What she ate: Felicia and Jeffrey whipped up this simple Mother’s Day meal featuring fried fish, cold tofu, roast pork, greens, and ABC soup for her mum.

Yummy factor: “It looks simple but we took awhile to figure out how to operate with minimal equipment and time,” Felcia wrote. Yeah, we can tell by the endearingly mismatched plates and rather random conglomeration of food, but if there’s one thing this meal doesn’t lack, it’s variety and love!

Jacelyn Tay
18 May 2017

Jacelyn Tay

What she ate: Lobsters and mussels at GoroGoro Steamboat and Korean Buffet with her mum

Yummy factor: A lobster meal is impressive, sure. But here’s how to step it up even more: Crack the lobsters for the guest of honour and extract every last morsel from the tails and claws so mama doesn’t even have to lift a finger.

Jade Seah
18 May 2017

Jade Seah

What she ate: Sashimi, artfully arranged at Kyoaji Dining

Yummy factor: Send this photo to your S.O. and write “Date Night Idea” in the subject line.

James Seah
18 May 2017

James Seah

What he ate: Honey-drenched French toast stuffed with homemade fig jam

Yummy factor: “Let’s hope my trainer doesn’t see this post,” James wrote. Oh, a dessert this good is worth getting in trouble for.

Jeffrey Xu
18 May 2017

Jeffrey Xu

What he ate: Parfait made by Felicia Chin

Yummy factor: “I’m a lucky man!” Jeffrey wrote, undoubtedly feeling that after each healthy mouthful (even the ones loaded with sour kiwi bits).

Patricia Mok
19 May 2017

Patricia Mok

What she ate: Budae jjigae at 3am

Yummy factor: We'd never say no to a piping hot pot of Korean army stew but like someone commented, "If I eat this at 3am sure lao sai sia".

Instagram/@patdevogue

Joshua Tan
18 May 2017

Joshua Tan

What he ate: Oreo milkshake with a crunchy chocolate stick

Yummy factor: “Ice cream > humans. Because dessert will never betray you,” Joshua wrote. E-M-O. He just spelled out word-for-word how every post-breakup comfort eater feels.

Lim Peifen
18 May 2017

Lim Peifen

What she ate: A surprise Mother’s Day cake

Yummy factor: When you have a kid in the house, there will suddenly be cake for every single birthday-unrelated occasion. What a sweet surprise though, radioactive maraschino cherries aside.

Michelle Chong
18 May 2017

Michelle Chong

What she ate: Hokkien mee at Bukit Botok West Avenue 6, Block 155 Coffeeshop

Yummy factor: “If it makes your heart palpitate, it must be love. Or pork lard!!!” Michelle wrote. She’s got a point. This is beyond drool-worthy.

Instagram/@immichellechong

Michelle Wong
18 May 2017

Michelle Wong

What she ate: Birthday cakes a la mode

Yummy factor: This seems like a delicious medley of fruity, tart and sweet flavours. Take note: If the cakes are miniature, at least go for two options and rev up the presentation.

Sharon Au
18 May 2017

Sharon Au

What she ate: Nutella crepe with her coffee

Yummy factor: That Nutella quote (“You can’t make everyone happy. You aren’t a jar of Nutella”) applies to Nutella crepes too – especially when it’s so big, it almost doesn’t fit on the plate.

Sora Ma
18 May 2017

Sora Ma

What she ate: Sora’s mum surprised her with a chocolate cake at Burg Khalifa in Dubai for a belated celebration of her Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste Award.

Yummy factor: There’s nothing like a sweet surprise at the tallest building in the world. This cake looks so dense and decadent, it would probably satisfy a whole week of chocolate cravings.

Tosh Zhang
18 May 2017

Tosh Zhang

What he ate: Japanese food including hiyayakko tofu and katsu with his mum on Mother’s Day

Yummy factor: This looks like a cozy lunch fit for a mother-and-son heart-to-heart. Also, is it just us or does Tosh totally take after his mum? They’re even matching in all black.

Instagram/@toshrock

Ya Hui
18 May 2017

Ya Hui

What she ate: Her birthday cake to celebrate turning 30

Yummy factor: If it’s got ombre frosting, a crown of baby’s breath, and generous berries, does it even matter what flavour the cake is?

Instagram/@yahuiyh

Yasminne Cheng
18 May 2017

Yasminne Cheng

What she ate: Hokkaido cheese toast at Siam Square in Bangkok

Yummy factor: Even though Yasminne wrote that it could be saltier, as one comment stated, anything-Hokkaido is a win. Plus, the cheese-lover in us is majorly impressed by its stringiness.

You Yi
18 May 2017

You Yi

What she ate: Steak lunch with her mum at TWG

Yummy factor: Going for the luxury treatment with this lavish meal – well done, You Yi. Mother looks pleased!
