Like last month, October sees a host of exciting new restaurants, such as the Singapore outpost of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Barcelona. Dining enclave Keong Saik Road welcomes a new joint specialising in ceviche and a robatayaki restaurant. Japanese food lovers can also look froward to new places for ramen and yakitori too!

A duo concept on Jiak Chuan Road, .elia is bistro by day and casual dining by night for modern European dishes with South-east Asian tastes. During lunch, drop by for comforting pastas and sandwiches made in house, such as Panchetta and Jamon Iberico Grilled Cheese; the dinner menu sees the sous-vide and seared Wagyu Beef Shortrib and grilled Octopus with sautéed kale, caramelised chilli and macademia nuts among its choices for a elegant course meal.

The offshoot of Barcelona’s Michelin-starred Restaurant Gaig, the new restaurant with the same name in Telok Ayer features the best of Catalan cuisine created by celebrated chef Carles Gaig. Managed by his daughter Nuria Gibert after a consulting stint at La Ventana, sample the restaurant highlight of classic Catalan stews such as Shrimp ‘all-i-pebre’ and Stuffed Baby Calamari when you head down – if you’re lucky, you might just catch the chef himself when he stops by in Singapore.

Fine dining goes Asian under chef-owners Ace Tan and David Lee at Ards along the busy Duxton Road. Rolling out exquisite dishes that flaunt the duo’s creativity, try their representative dish Ear of the Sea, an abalone slow-braised and served with noodles marinated in cured kombu, fresh yuzu, sea succulents and a number of mushrooms. Take your pick from a three to five course set ($48++ to $68++ per person) for lunch, and between two streamlined dinner menus with signatures ($88 per person for three courses/$128++ per person for five courses) for dinner. If you’re looking to splurge a little, a special fifteen-course tasting menu “Piquant Illustration” is available at $188++ per person.

Founded by chef Ikuta Satoshi, who clinched Tokyo Ramen of the Year in 2012, Ramen Nagi has made its way to Singapore shores after expanding in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. Fans of traditional ramen lovers can look forward to the Original Butao King ($13.90; traditional tonkotsu), while those who are more adventurous can try the Black King ($15.90; blackened garlic and squid) or Green King ($15.90; fresh basil and olive oil).

Feast on slow-grilled robatayaki at Kyuu by Shunsui, a​ ​new​ ​Japanese joint nestled within Keong Saik Road. Start with light appetisers such as Fresh Fig with Sumiso, Homemade Sesame Tofu and Duck with Homemade Miso and seasonal Sashimi before grilled options fired a la minute – try them with the homemade sauces paired specially for each skewer. The tasting menu features 10 courses priced at $129++ per person, so come down hungry.

Fans of pork belly kushiyaki can now have their fill at the new Yakitori Yatagarasu, featuring 15 types of pork belly wraps speared on a stick. Besides the usual lettuce and asparagus offerings, indulge in creative fillings of curry rice ($6) and yakisoba (fried noodles) for a special dinner treat, while lunch sees their limited Oyako-don, where only 50 bowls will be prepared daily.

Situated in the lobby of Tower 1, the day’s tea features two exclusive tea blends Marina Pearls and Durian Lapis along with an array of sweet and savoury bites. The tea theme continues at night with special tea-infused cocktails such as Rosella (Citadelle Original Gin, Cocchi Rosa, Champagne and Wild Forest Berry Tea).
