The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore’s latest national monument, will once again illuminate in a myriad of colours when its facade transforms into a spectacular light show as part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown.

Jointly organised by the Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), this year’s 3D projection display has been specially designed to integrate and highlight the iconic architectural features of the hotel and will feature iconic images that capture Singapore’s identity.

“We sought to work with the features of the Fullerton Hotel’s façade, integrating them into the display, rather than using the façade merely as a backdrop. Graphics and 3D elements form the bulk of projection mapping which is meant to highlight and enhance the unique architecture of The Fullerton Hotel,” said Ye JunMin, a producer at The Esplanade.

Entitled “An Explosion of Colour”, the show will depict the dynamism and vibrancy of the future of Singapore and will showcase the nation’s architectural richness. Visitors can expect vividly coloured scenes depicting Singapore’s lush tropical landscapes interspersed with familiar elements of Singapore’s society from Peranakan shophouses and HDB flats to the MRT.

Accompanied by a rousing soundtrack titled “Victory”, composed by local instrumental rock band Paint the Sky Red, the five-minute visual and music extravaganza will take place every hour nightly from December 26 to 31, before culminating in a spectacular countdown sequence on New Year’s Eve.

The public can enjoy the light show at these times:

Dec 26 to 30: 8.15pm, 9.15pm, 10.15pm and 11.15pm nightly

Dec 31: 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm and 11.55pm

For best views, head to Merlion Park or Jubilee bridge across from The Fullerton Hotel.
