AVEDA EXPERIENCE CENTRE (#B2-33)
This brand believes that looking beautiful begins by first feeling beautiful and that is the basis behind its newest retail store. The outlet is dedicated to giving customers an experiential journey of the brand’s beauty rituals. A typical visit begins with a cup of Aveda Comforting tea before you embark on a hair-and-scalp diagnosis and a simple skin-balancing ritual. There is also a hair-and-scalp experience area allowing you to try the hair products, and a spa room to experience the body and aroma goodies, too. Aveda’s Stress-relieving Hand Ritual or Head and Shoulder Ritual are also offered as part of the scalp-to-soul experience, enhancing total wellness. All complimentary.

BRANCHÉ HAIR & NAIL (#B1-33)
The popular salon chain in Japan has now launched its first outlet outside of Japan. The premium salon is spacious but only has three seats (appointments are crucial), and a fully private VIP room with en suite wash basin. Japanese precision aside (expect perfectly manicured nails and meticulous cuts), the salon also offers a 14-day satisfaction guarantee so customers can redo a perm, cut or colour for free if they aren’t fully satisfied. Haircuts start from $250; Treatments start from $100, Colouring services start from $150 to $280.

Coat Colours launches a limited edition SG50 set of three nail polishes. How apt for this home-grown lacquer label that’s also “5-free” — minus formaldehyde and toluene and so on. Colours are Race-y Red (a bold brick), Sugar & Spice (pink confetti), and Twinkling Stars (a pale gold), available at $80 from Hands+Feet Studio 44 Siglap Drive (6448-7187) and Trixilini, #01-04/05 Scotts Square (6338-7060).
Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure collection is a base coat, nail strengthener, growth treatment, top coat, chip-resistant colour with a gel finish — in one bottle. Now in six new shades (we love Nightwatch, an inky metallic navy and Peach of Cake, a pretty coral), $13.90 each from Watsons, Guardian and BHG.
It’s not just about having all the colours at your fingertips, varying textures give nail polishes an interesting twist too. Anna Sui’s new Nail Color collection comes in a buffet of lamé and glitter (in stars and dot shapes), plus pearlescent, holographic and frosted effects. In 45 colour and texture variations, available at $24 each from all Anna Sui counters.
