Eat Your Whites

What: Lyco-White oral skin supplements from IDS Clinic.

Contains: The carotenoids of 80 tomatoes!

The scientific mumbo jumbo: The generous serving of carotenoids in these pills inhibits melanin synthesis and gives you fairer and clearer skin over time. They also defend against UV radiation — think of it as sunblock you can eat — and contain anti-oxidants to promote overall health and reduce brain and heart problems.

What you need to know: Take three pills every day to see fairer and brighter skin in a month. Supposedly gives you that inner glow that you can’t achieve with topical skincare. Doubles your sun protection — but don’t skip your regular sunblock.

$168 for 90 capsules (or one month’s supply) from IDS Clinic, #05-07 Novena Specialist Centre, Tel: 6568-3555.

Drink Your Moisturiser

What: Collagen drink from Laneige

Contains: Collagen sourced from a whole tilapia fish!

The scientific mumbo jumbo: Each bottle contains 5g of collagen peptide, which replenishes the exact amount of collagen that’s metabolised by the body in a day — how convenient! Woefully, the body’s collagen production decreases after you turn 25, and some believe that supplying collagen to the body (in this case, via a drink) keeps you looking young and helps maintain skin elasticity.

What you need to know: Down a bottle a day for eight weeks to see brighter, smoother and more hydrated skin. Red orange and pomegranate extracts gives a Vitamin C boost and makes for a yummy daily treat.

$52 for 10 bottles from Laneige boutiques, available end March.
