She may have picked up just the Social Media Award this year, but the rising star looked every bit at home on the red carpet in this metallic smoky-eyed look that popped perfectly against her white gown. Plus, “the warm tones of the copper, gold and bronze eyeshadow shades suits her personality better than the conventional dark smoky eye,” says her makeup artist Elain Lim. The secret to her goddess-like glow? Lim goes over her face with the Skin Inc Optimizer Voyage LED light gadget (set to the red light to plump the skin) over Sulwhasoo’s First Care Serum, before giving her a face massage to lift her visage and to enable foundation to glide on better onto the skin.

To complement her Alexander McQueen dress, makeup artist Cindy Goh went for a 60s-inspired makeup look with a bolder brow, a peachy-coral palette and false lashes on the top and bottom lashes. “Big lashes are very important for the red carpet, as is a touch of colour on the lips,” notes Cindy.

The Queen nails it again – effortlessly – in a tangerine Stella McCartney gown and bronzy, coral-inflected makeup that was glamorous in a subtle way. Is it us, or does she seem to glow brighter than any other of the more youthful stars on the red carpet?

Zoe Tay (Part 1)

Everything about Zoe’s look at the first show shouts the golden age of Hollywood. The highly glamorous makeup was absolutely on point, from the thick, bold brows to the crimson lips that was a perfect match to her Valentino gown. “Apart from the strong, berry-red lips, everything else was very pared down,” says her makeup artist Cindy Goh.

Ya Hui (Part 2)

It’s no simple feat pulling off red lips and a crimson gown after Zoe had done so the week before, but Ya Hui manages to inject a youthful punch to her look, thanks to a simple smoky eye and a strong, matte fire-engine lip shade. To prevent her lippie from feathering or caking, makeup artist Cindy Goh applied a lip liner to moisturised lips before applying the lipstick. “Blot once with powder and top it off with another layer – and line the corner of the lips with concealer or foundation to prevent feathering,” advises Cindy.

Julie Tan (Part 1)

Rocket Award winner Julie Tan wore the perfect look of an ingenue – ultra-glowy skin and classic red lips that made her look like a star on the rise. We much prefered this look to the Gothic one the following week that had her looking like a rebellious teenager.

Rui En (Part 2)

Trust Rui En to go down the unconventional route – with both her Mugler dress and her edgy makeup in Star Awards Part 2. Her makeup artist Sam Ong tells us that her fabulously wearable, face-brightening tangerine lipstick is from L’Oreal Paris, as is her foundation and peach-hued blusher. Her dramatic eyelashes though, are falsies imported from the U.S.A and costs $40 per pair, reveals Sam.

He gave her sparkly eye makeup paired with rosy pink cheeks and bright pink lips for a full-on blooming effect.
