Neglected area: Neck

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: Ever heard of the term ‘turkey neck’? It’s used to describe what happens when the skin under your chin and around your neck becomes loose, thanks to ageing.

GET THIS: The Special Care Neck and Collarbone mask from INNISFREE ($4) promises to enhance the elasticity of the skin around the neck. Designed to wrap neatly around the neck and cover the collarbones, this felt a little weird at first — sorta like wearing a really large, wet necklace. After 15 to 20 minutes of leaving it on, the skin around our neck felt refreshed and firmer.

Neglected area: Lips

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: Dry and cracked lips are not pretty, not to mention painful.

GET THIS: The Fabulips Treatment Kit from BLISS ($75) claims to be a “facial for your lips”, with four products to slough and moisturise your pucker into perfection. Trying out the Foaming Lip Cleanser, which removes surface impurities like lipstick and even food residue, was particularly interesting. Within seconds of application, the liquid started to foam, so we looked like we were literally foaming at the mouth. It did do a good job of rinsing off our bright lippie, and when used with the lip scrub, lip plumper and lip balm, made our lips so soft that we couldn’t stop touching them.

Neglected area: Nose

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: Blackheads and large pores on the nose are no-nos.

GET THIS: The Anti-Pore Black Head Clear Kit from CNP LABORATORY ($14.10 for box of 3 sets) is a bit different from your usual nose strips. It’s a two-step kit with two different masks — use the first one for removing blackheads and sebum, then the other to tighten the pores. The first mask did a great job of removing pesky blackheads on our nose, but we didn’t really see a reduction of our pores after using the second mask (though it probably takes a few uses for results to show). It may not be as effective as painful extractions during facials, but it’s good for a little maintenance in between facials.
