The most awesome things we spotted at BeautyAsia 2015

Every year, we head to the BeautyAsia trade show to get an idea of what trends are making their way to Singapore. While the trade show caters primarily to spas and beauticians rather than the average consumer, we can only hope that these weird and wonderful products will be offered in our favourite salons.

Click through our gallery to  see the coolest things we spotted at the BeautyAsia tradeshow in the Suntec Convention Centre on Wednesday.

Digitally printed nails

Nail printers have been around for a few years, but it doesn’t seem like the trend has quite caught on with our local salons. Apparently, people would rather entrust their talents to a human manicurist. And we get it – nail art done with nail polish sounds longer-lasting than a digital print design, and at the very least, a nail artist can better adhere her design to the shape of your nails. But we won’t deny that the latest set of samples from ArtPro Nail Printer look pretty darn precise. Nail printers also work much faster than human hands, meaning that salons could save hours of time by printing some aspects of their designs instead of applying them manually.

PE Skin Professional’s customised serums

Now, customised skincare is nothing new (Skin Inc, anyone?) but we’ve got to give major points to PE Professional’s creative packaging. According to the skincare expert we spoke with, the people blending your serum look beyond your skin type to factor in your environment, the season, your occupation, your lifestyle, how much sleep you get, and even your emotions. So if you wanted to, you could even request a serum just for your peak season, or one just for your two-week cruise through Alaska’s icy waters.

Skincare goes high-tech with the Platinum Collection

Blenders are cool nowadays. So is nano-sized skincare. Naturally, someone would invent a machine that can conveniently transform a regular ‘ol serum into a “platinum nano-colloid” – or in layman’s terms, into a liquid with particles so tiny that they can penetrate your skin in ways that mainstream serums never can. Sounds a little sci-fi, but if this is the closest we can come to the Fountain of Youth, then we’ll take it.

A pillow-sized machine that can help you snooze more effectively

Speaking of sci-fi, how about a pillow that can improve your blood oxygen saturation and ease your heart rate? Everyone knows that you can get 8 hours of sleep and still wake up feeling like you got run over by a truck. To combat poor sleep, a local company created SleepEzy, a device that creates a Magnetic Interference Cloud that improves blood circulation and allows for easier breathing. Simply stick this device under your pillow to experience easier breathing, which can also help you snore less and to move into a deeper stage of REM.

Nano-sized collagen

As popular as they are, collagen products have received a bit of flak for promising more than what they can deliver. Apparently, they don’t penetrate deeply enough to have any effect on your body’s supply of collagen. That’s where Japan’s Nano Piti powder, which has yet to be distributed in Singapore, comes in.  Simply mix a little bit of it with your daily moisturiser for an extra boost of collagen, which is contained in particles small enough to treat the deeper layers of your skin.

ZZ Cream

You’ve heard of BB cream, CC cream, and perhaps even DD cream, but do you know that there’s such a thing as ZZ CREAM? Yeah, we didn’t either. This product contains the “beauty balm” of BB creams, the “colour correcting” of CC creams, the “daily defence” properties of DD creams, and can act as a pore primer to give your complexion a softer look.

Spectrum Mask

Well, this just took face masks to the next level. Despite its creepy appearance, this Spectrum Mask, from Korea, looks like it could be pretty darn effective, as it leaves no square inch of your face uncovered. This device delivers LED beams in three wavelengths and four modes, which you can select depending on your needs. It can do everything from reducing acne (by killing microbes), to providing postcare after laser treatment, to wound healing, to increasing your blood circulation.
