The fashion sorority has elevated the leopard-print coat to “ultimate outerwear” status, like the classic trench or the luxurious mink coat. Some of the industry’s most important names are endorsing its importance with Christopher Bailey leading the pack at Burberry Prorsum. For his pre-Fall collection, Bailey presented the coat in various permutations including a decidedly luxe leopard-print sheepskin coat.

Other crowd-pleasers included a boxy version with oversized button details at Stella McCartney, a sexy, slim-fit trench-inspired goatskin version at Altuzarra and a silk-printed daywear coat at Michael Kors that came with cutest matching slippers — guaranteed to put a smile on any leopard-obsessed fan.

Exotic skins and prints

Exotic skins have, since time immemorial, been the symbol of luxury and exclusivity in the accessories arena. And the allure of exotics have since risen the ranks of old-school glamour into a new-age cool.

Roman luxury accessories and jewellery house Bulgari paved the way with its version of shiny lizard evening bags swathed in jewel tones of pink and purple (complete with coloured jade which serves as a closure detail). Fendi followed suit and jazzed up the pointed python pump with a patchwork of jewelled colours that lend a street cred to seriously luxe pieces.
