The folks behind French fine-diner Olivia Cassivelaun Fancourt (or OCF) at Old Parliament Lane have set up this chic open-concept cafe. The food here is a hodgepodge of eastern and western plates, including The Cheeses ($23), two grilled cheese sandwiches clasping a 150g beef patty melt. Get some Korean Wings ($9 for six pieces) for your Koreanophile pal. Love Vietnamese grub? There’s a pulled pork Banh Meanie ($17) too. Or just drop by for the well-brewed cuppas ($5 a cappuccino; the manager here used to work at Jones the Grocer, hence the good java) and a deliciously moist slice of Olivia Carrot Cake ($7.50).

Another healthy cafe in the CBD to help you #eatclean. It’s set up by an English couple and a Eurasian couple (one co-owner is a health coach). The food here uses mostly organic ingredients with vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options. Got allergies? Order a customised meal to suit your dietary needs. But that’s not to say you have to peck at leaves and seeds here. Try the Towering Thomas Burger ($21) with house-made chicken patties and a Pasta Goreng ($16) with organic fusilli tossed in coconut oil.

Breads for the sarnies are baked fresh in Swissbake’s central bakery and delivered daily. If you’re cutting down on carbs, get a customisable Salad ($7.90 for five toppings) with over 20 toppings to choose from, like sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus.

Three friends who met in secondary school opened this casual ice cream joint, named for a co-owner’s grandmother who endearingly mispronounces the dessert as “ai-ski-lin”. The aiskilin at this cafe is served as rolls, a Thai street food fave that’s all the rage here now. The ice cream rolls are made to order on a frozen plate ($5.90 a la carte). You can opt for them to be served on Waffles ($9.90) too. Try the XO Durian and Avocado or Thai Milk Tea flavours.
