3 new cafes that are super serious about their coffee

Where you need to go for a good cuppa on International Coffee Day

First things first, let us clarify: While International Coffee Day has been unofficially celebrated every year on 29 September, the official date set by the International Coffee Organisation is 1 October. Yeah, we’re confused too. But who cares as long as you get your caffeine? If you want to do something special this year to commemorate the longstanding relationship between humans and coffee (the first records of coffee-drinking date back to the 10th century), here are three newish kids on the block who set themselves apart with their dedication to bringing you the best brew.

1. Stamping Ground Coffee

This tiny nook looks nondescript, but packs a punch. The menu is just as minute — only coffee, specially made bottled juices and simple sarnies — but everything on it is painstakingly done. Coffee-wise, what’s used here is the Throwback blend developed by local king of coffee beans, Papa Palheta. Think robust and almost chocolatey cuppas. If the weather’s hot out, the cold brews, served in amber bottles, make for a good pick-me-up.

Find Stamping Ground Coffee at 31 Club Street.
