Burglar caught red handed or should we say white footed after leaving a trail of paint footprints behind after attempting to rob a shop.

A burglar made a pricey mistake after tripping over a paint bucket and leaving a trail of footprints behind.

Andrew Mark Connor, 27, knocked over a tin of white paint whilst attempting to rob a shop in Easington Colliery in County Durham.

He was arrested minutes later as police officers followed his accidental trail all the way to his home in Vincent Street, according to various tabloid reports.

As a result Connor has to pay £100 in compensation and he was given a 12 month community order by Peterlee Magistrates' Court.
