Male chimp Chacha uses electricity poles to escape Japan zoo

A male chimpanzee named Chacha escaped a northern Japan zoo by grabbing hold of an electricity pole on Thursday (14.04.16).

The cheeky primate went missing from Yagiyama Zoological Park and was seen by locals in the Sendai neighbourhood casually roaming the streets.

In video footage, which has gone viral, the chimp can be seen swinging between buildings whilst attached to the power line.

A vet was sent to the scene and was lifted to his level in a cherry picker and shoot him with a tranquilliser gun.

Chacha tried to escape, but the sedative soon got to him and he lost his grip and was seen hanging from the line.

The chimp is believed to have made a full recovery, according to various reports by local media.
