Wang Kaiyu accidentally bought two black bears, mistaking them for puppies.

Wang Kaiyu bought two baby black bears in Vietnam, thinking they were puppies.

The banana farmer only realised his mistake when he saw a wildlife protection poster put out by local police.

He contacted the local public security bureau and the bears - one male and one female - were sent to a rescue centre, where they're now in good health and weighing around 50kg each.

According to, Wang said the bears were "very lively, not picky about food and friendly with human beings" but did return home with a butchered chicken on one occasion.
