Newlyweds find dead rat in wedding reception food

A couple were left distraught when a dead rat was found drowned in their pot of stew at their wedding reception.

The newlyweds and their guests decided to up sticks and leave their celebratory bash, held at a restaurant named Badawan, after they found the big fat rodent lying bang smack in the middle of their meaty-based feast.

The loved-up duo sent photographs of the dead rat floating in their food to the China Food and Drug Administration, which sent officials to inspect the restaurant that provided the dishes, but, according to reports, the eatery was cleared and was told there was no risk of contamination.

Managers at the restaurant later claimed the rodent must have drowned in the pot of beef after staff had already prepared the food, according to People's Daily Online.
