Parents warned to get children's eyes tested

Parents are being warned to get their children's eyesight tested as early as possible.

An infographic produced from figures from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) revealed that one in eight parents believe their children only need to have their eyes tested if they themselves wear glasses.

The study of 2,000 parents of children under the age of 12 also revealed a third would incorrectly wait until their child starts school to have an eye check up.

Jo Holmes, Dispensing Optician, said: "It's never too soon to get your child's eyes tested. Children can have an eye test before they learn to read, and the sooner some eye problems are picked up, the easier it is to treat them."
