Runaway cow sparks police chase

A runaway cow sparked a police chase in New York after fleeing a slaughterhouse.

The mad moo managed to make its escape from the Archer Halal Live Poultry and Meat Market on 165th Street but the bovine beast obviously hadn't thought ahead about his escape because he looked lost wandering around 175th Street.

Several Twitter users and puzzled pedestrians recorded video footage of the farm animal walking around Jamaica, Queens.

Fortunately, neither passersby nor the cow were injured during the chase but the massive mammal was eventually captured and taken back to the slaughterhouse.

Following the cow's antics, one Queens resident, Atiya Lilly Gassaway, started a petition for the animal to be spared slaughter. The petition has attracted nearly 400 signatures at the time of writing.
