Throwback Thursday: Singapore politicians then and now

As though stealing our hearts (and millions of others) wasn’t enough, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (inset) broke the Internet when photos of the young, shirtless politician emerged online this week. With his tanned, washboard abs, luscious wavy locks and chiselled good looks, the hunky PM looks just like the guy your mum warned you to stay away from.

Inspired (and curious), we decided to do a little digging ourselves to see how our local politicians looked back in the day. While most aren’t exactly movie star material, a couple of them could give Trudeau a run for his money. So without further ado, we present to you Singapore politicians like you’ve never seen them before. Enjoy!

We find it hard to believe that Ironman triathlete and poster boy for fitness in Singapore politics Teo Ser Luck was once pudgy. Check out the muffin top!

Who would have thought that a sullen clarinet-playing lad would be our Prime Minister decades down the road.

We know what you are thinking, former TV host Darryl David has not aged one bit. And yes, that’s actor Pierre Png on left at the Fame Awards in 1996.

Another politician that has convinced us that the fountain of youth does exist is the boyish-looking Desmond Choo. At 39, he still looks like his 17-year-old self.
