Stefanie Sun’s husband takes a jab at Sun Ho

We wonder if it is because local songbird Stefanie Sun’s husband Nadim van der Ros, had been asked one too many times if his wife is related to Sun Ho, co-founder of City Harvest Church (CHC), that spurred him to set the record straight.

In a Facebook post on Thursday (Oct 22), Nadim shared a BBC article about the CHC scandal as well as clarified that his wife (left) and Sun Ho (right), who is also a singer, are two different people, you know, just in case, people got the two Suns confused.

He wrote: “Just for the record and for my non-Chinese friends, this Sun Ho is neither a relation nor should be confused with my wife, Stefanie Sun or Sun Yanzi. My wife is a touch more successful in her singing career, infinitely more talented and beautiful, both inside and out.” BURN!

Man gets arm stuck in toilet while retrieving mobile phone

A Chinese man found himself in a sticky (and stinky) situation when his arm got stuck in a poo-filled toilet in Zhejiang, China. Turns out the man was pulling up his trousers after doing his business when his mobile phone slipped out of his pocket and down the pipe. Desperate to retrieve his new phone, he plunged his hand into the faecal mess but his arm got stuck instead and he had to be rescued by firefighters. "My arm was stuck there and waste kept spewing out towards my face. It made me really sick… Had I known the consequences, I would have never plunged my hand inside to try and get it," he said.

Woman outraged after being served cold and eaten Big Mac

A woman got an unpleasant surprise when she opened her burger box to find the Big Mac she had purchased from a McDonald’s outlet in Auckland last Sunday was cold and had a huge bite taken out of it. Furious, Lakyn Taite-Alle took to Facebook to slam the fast-food chain and share photos of said burger.

“Went through Lincoln Road McDonald's today and received this unpleasant surprise - a bite out of my Big Mac!' she wrote, adding that when she returned to the restaurant to get an explanation, staff there implied that she had “tampered with it”. Initially McDonald’s refuted her complaint but after reviewing CCTV footage, conceded that it was “human error” and apologised to Lakyn on Tuesday. In a statement, the fast-food chain said the burger was rejected by a previous customer but was accidentally resold.

China’s first lady suffers make-up faux pas

Even China’s first lady (or her make-up artist) has her off days. Fashion icon Peng Liyuan was left white-faced when she suffered an unfortunate make-up mishap at the Lord Mayor’s banquet in London on Wednesday (Oct 21). Peng who attended the event with her husband, Chinese president Xi Jinping, appeared to have gotten a bit too carried away with the face powder, leaving white patches across her forehead and nose. Loose silica powder, which is made of luminous powders, can create a flawless look in person but shows up in photos when camera flash hits it. Well, at least they realised the blunder and fixed it later that night.

Man left temporarily deaf after mistaking superglue for ear drops

This is a reminder to always look and read the label first. A Chinese man was left deaf for a week after accidentally mistaking super glue for ear drops. Last week, Wang Song, who had been suffering from an ear infection, felt his ear itching and reached for what he thought was a bottle of ear drops and squeezed the solution into his ear. Minutes later, he felt a burning sensation and realised it was glue that he had put into his ear. Fortunately, this only resulted in temporary deafness and Wang Song’s hearing was restored a week later when doctors removed the dried glue from his ear.

Guys hold mock funeral for friend who is always with his girlfriend

We all have that friend who MIAs (missing in action) when they get attached. While most of us just accept that sometimes girlfriends are more important than bros, Keiren Cable’s friends could not take it lying down. So about 50 of them came together and threw a mock funeral for 20-year-old Keiren because it felt like he had “died” after he met his girlfriend 18 months ago.

The guys arranged to meet Keiran at a local pub in Wales to watch rugby but the guest-of-honour arrived to discover it was his wake and funeral, complete with a handmade coffin, hearse and hymns. Said funeral organiser: “None of us had seen him since [the couple got together] and he wasn't replying to any of our group texts or mails… So we decided if he wasn't going to come out with us and was going to pretend he was dead then we'd organise a funeral for him.”

Photos of emaciated lion in Beijing Zoo goes viral

Netizens were outraged after photos of extremely gaunt lion and tigers at the Beijing Zoo went viral. The photos were taken by some animal rights activists, who questioned if the zoo had been neglecting and underfeeding the animals.

After the photos went viral, local media reported that the seemingly malnourished lion had been pulled from display because “he had been sick and not eating much”. Zoo officials also said that the tiger in question was a Bengal tiger, which is typically smaller than other tiger species, so, like the skinny lion, there was nothing wrong with them. Officials added that they will pay closer attention to the diet of the animals and will begin to monitor their weight regularly.

Crawling is the new bizarre fitness trend in China

Forget jogging, fitness fanatics in Henan, China, are crawling their way to better health. Recently, residents young and old have been spotted crawling around a Zhengzhou park on all fours every morning. Many believe it is beneficial for their well-being and some even claimed it has healed their neck and back pains. While it may seem bizarre, doctors believe that the exercise originated from ancient Chinese medicine and could date back to the end of Han dynasty. Said one doctor: “Crawling disperses the body weight onto the limbs. This relieves the pressure on the spin and could be extremely useful for preventing any back problems.”
