Hot Filipino carrot farmer goes viral

Maybe this will inspire you vegetable haters to chomp your carrots. Netizens in the Philippines have fallen head over heels with a vegetable farmer after Facebook user Edwina Bandong posted photos of the dimpled lad online. Captivated by his looks, Edwina started snapping photos of #Carrotman while she and her friends were on a walk at a mountain province. Unsurprisingly, the images quickly went viral - netizens have likened his looks to that of South Korean actor Jang Keun-suk and Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung - and some even created fake Facebook accounts for him. Though he was later identified as Jeyrick Sigmaton, little else is known about him.

Netizens outraged after 16-year-olds wed in China

Wedding photos of a baby-faced couple in China have gone viral, triggering a heated discussion on whether they are too young to marry. The 16-year-olds reportedly held their wedding on Feb 15 in Guangxi Province, however they aren’t officially man and wife as they are below the legal marriage age.

The bride, identified by local media as Xiaowu, said the pair, who met more than a year ago, fell in love and that marriage was “inevitable”. She added that they have full support of their families, who paid for their wedding feast, and will register their marriage once they come of age. However, that will be quite some time yet as the legal marriage age in China is 20 for women and 22 for men. Let’s hope by then her hubby, who is working part-time jobs after dropping out after middle school, will be able to afford their dream wedding.

Peacocks frightened to death after being harassed for selfies

First it was endangered dolphins, now two peacocks in a Chinese zoo have died from shock after they were repeatedly grabbed by visitors for selfies. According to media reports, the incident happened on Feb 12 at the Yunnan Wild Animal Park where tourists are free to roam the area with peacocks as well as feed them. However, some visitors took their selfie quest a bit too far and began grabbing the birds for photos and even ripping off their feathers. By the time zoo workers intervened, it was too late. Last week, snaps showing selfie-hungry tourists crowding a baby dolphin that had been pulled from the water at an Argentine beach went viral. A man was also seen dragging a shark from the water for a photo.

Man proposes to girlfriend with cash bouquet

We're not sure if this guy is brilliant or stingy. A man from China's Henan province proposed to his girlfriend of three years with a bouquet made up of a hundred 100-yuan (S$21) banknotes on Sunday (Feb 21). After receiving an award during an industry awards ceremony, 32-year-old Ma Juncao, a self-confessed workaholic, asked his girlfriend Qin Jiaojiao to join him on stage before getting down on bended knee in front of 600 of his co-workers and popping the question. "From now on, all you need to do is to stay beautiful. I will be the bread-winner and provide everything else… Will you marry me?" said Juncao as he presented his cash bouquet - hmm does this mean he can get away without buying a diamond ring? The couple had initially decided to wed last month but work plans forced Juncao to reschedule.

Austrian man fined for loud burp

Since when is burping an offence? Apparently when you are near a police officer. An Austrian man was fined 70 euros (S$110) for burping too loudly in a Vienna park after eating a kebab. Barman Edin Mehic wrote on Facebook that he “felt a hand on his shoulder” after burping during a stroll in Prater Park on Feb 7 and was slapped with a ticket for offending "public decency with a loud belch next to a police officer". He plans to appeal against the fine.

Woman takes a pee in Paris photo booth

Lady, just because you can’t see anyone, doesn’t mean no one can see you. A bizarre video of a woman taking a pee in a passport photo booth in clear view of commuters at a Paris train station is making the rounds on the Internet. The footage, believed to be taken by a passerby at Paris-Gare de Lyon station, shows the woman sitting in a photo booth as if she was having her photograph taken. Though her face is covered by the curtain, she can be seen from waist down and had her pants pulled down. She sits very still for a few seconds before dropping some tissue paper on the ground, pulling up her trousers and casually walking away. Eweee!

Passenger crashes bus when she could not get change

A female passenger was so furious when the bus driver could not give her change that she crashed the vehicle. According to China reports, the elderly woman paid the driver 20 yuan (S$4.30) when she boarded the bus in Zhejiang on Feb 23 and demanded that the driver hand over her change of 19 yuan. When he said that he told her that passengers must use exact change, she grabbed the steering wheel and crashed the vehicle into a curb. Fortunately no one was hit but one passenger fractured three ribs in the accident.

Man incubates supermarket eggs and now has a feathered friend

A man who incubated a box of supermarket quail eggs was stunned when one of them hatched a month later. It all started as an experiment when Alwyn Wils, 45, read online that it is nearly impossible for store-bought eggs to hatch as they are not fertilised. To see if that’s really the case, he bought a dozen eggs from a Netherlands supermarket, placed them in an incubator and filmed their progress. To his amazement, one of them hatched a month later. His little pet, named Albert, has since become a viral sensation in the Netherlands after he set up a YouTube channel named A Chick Called Albert for the bird.
