World War II veteran reunited with wallet 70 years later

WWII soldier Eligio Ramos was surprised when he was sent his wallet, which he had lost 70 years ago during the war.

A soldier who lost his wallet 70 years ago has had it returned to him.

The 91-year-old American, Eligio Ramos, was at war in western Europe in a field artillery unit in 1945 and had planted his purse in the floorboards of the Austrian farmhouse he had been staying in, which was owned by a local named Ruckhofer.

And 70 years later, while Eligio was having breakfast with his daughter, Sylvia Gonzalez, 72, they were sent a letter from Ruckhofer's grandson, Dr Josef Ruckhofer who now owned the farm.

Dr Josef had been removing the floorboards and came across a wallet, and used military ID numbers to track Eligio down and sent it back to him.
