Father’s Day activities your dad will appreciate

Unlike mum, dads can be hard to shop for. They either already have everything they need or are poor at communicating gift ideas. So this Father’s Day, instead of pulling your hair out shopping for a present, gift him with your time and presence because he’ll appreciate it more than anything. Here are some activities you can enjoy with daddy dearest on his special day. You’re welcome.

Show your appreciation for your dad by giving him a surprise this Father’s Day. For more information, visit www.toggle.sg/celebratingfathers

Dad’s Day Out

Dads are always playing chauffeur, shuttling kids to and from activities and lessons on weekends. This Father’s Day, give dad a day off and treat him to a day of fun at Dad’s Day Out carnival at Sports Hub. There will be free breakfast, massages and gifts for dads as well as challenges such as paddle boating, dancing, and face-painting for dad to complete with the family.

An ideal gift for: Dads who are young at heart and have no qualms about embarrassing themselves because the struggle is real for those with two left feet.

Dad’s Day Out is happening on June 19, 9am to 6pm, at Sports Hub, OCBC Square. More details at toggle.sg/celebratingfathers.

There will be tons of feasting but also walking too. Tours like the Joo Chiat food walk, which promises a sampling of a whopping 30 dishes, can last up to six hours.

An ideal gift for: Dads with an appetite for hawker food, adventure and nostalgia. Warning: May cause food coma!

A smart coffee machine, followed by quality time at a farm

When we spotted Nespresso’s smartphone-connected coffee machine, we knew it’d be perfect for dads who dream of brewing a cup of coffee from the comfort of their sofa. But don’t stop there. Enjoy the great outdoors by treating your dad to a tour at the Quan Fa Organic Farm, where, incidentally, Nespresso supplies used coffee grounds as compost. Take home what you’ve learned about the environment by helping your dad set up a system for recycling so that he knows his used capsules are going to good use.

An ideal gift for: Dads who can’t bear to take a coffee break while watching sports on TV, but who could definitely benefit from some time outdoors

Indulge your coffee geeks at barista class

What’s better than having a perfect morning brew every day? Enjoying a perfect cuppa that you brewed yourself, that’s what. Instead of getting dad a coffee gift card, sign yourselves up for Yahava Koffee Academy’s Barista Basics course so you can spend quality time together, indulge your inner coffee geeks and learn to brew and pull your own espressos.

An ideal gift for: The coffee guzzling dad who is too much of a purist to drink coffee that comes from a capsule or sachet.

Barista Basics course, $180 for 3 hours. To sign up, email Yahava Koffee Academy at koffee@yahava.sg.

Go for a scalp analysis together

Yeah, we know: this ain’t your typical father-son activity. But if your dad’s been angsty about his receding hairline, book an appointment at Svenson for two (just so he won’t feel so alone), where he will learn more about what issues his hair and scalp are facing. Afterward, get him the Svenson Hair Retention System Kit so that he can maintain good scalp health at home.

An ideal gift for: Dads who are secretly a little vain

Svenson Hair Retention System, $38-$42

Help him choose a fresh new pair of kicks at The Social Foot

The Social Foot, a brand-new multi-label sneaker store in Orchard Central, is the perfect place to revisit the past with your pops, thanks to all the retro shoes featured in the store. We’re talking Reebok Classics, Adidas Originals, and more sneakers that your dad probably wore in his youth. You can also check out much-coveted styles like the PRO-Keds, which are exclusive to this store, and the Rihanna x Puma Eskiva Mid. In addition to helping him pick out a new pair of shoes, head over to the store’s social corner, where you can create your own Father’s Day GIF to share on social media. Afterward, invite your dad out for a walk ‘round the neighbourhood in his awesome new kicks.

An ideal gift for: Sporty dads with a bit of swag

The Social Foot is located at Orchard Central, #01-19/20

WE x Togetherly Pop-Up

Are you and your husband young parents? Amidst all the busyness, don’t forget to celebrate the occasion with your hubby – especially when you have spent so much time in the toy store that you have stopped shopping for yourselves. For a chill alternative to the diaper aisle (or to the usual retail experience), we recommend a leisurely stroll through the WE x Togetherly Pop-Up in Wisma Atria, where you can browse through booths filled with artisanal chocolate, eye-catching terrariums, retro-styled spectacles, and cushion covers printed with Singlish phrases. Do check out the Book Exchange Corner, where you can trade your old books for new reads adorned with notes from a stranger.

An ideal gift for: Young dads and bookworms

You can find the W.E. x Togetherly Pop-Up at Isetan Orchard Wisma Atria Level 1 until June 30.
