9 “spoil market” Valentine’s Day gift ideas for your lover

Singapore might not be known for its romance, but when it comes to giving romantic tokens, it looks like we’re more than happy to shell out the big bucks. A recent survey by Groupon revealed that 33 per cent of Singapore couples plan to spend between USD $100 - $199 (S$135 – S$270) on Valentine’s Day, which is a much higher percentage than most of the other countries surveyed. And ladies, a whopping 69 per cent of men in Singapore believe that a man should foot the bill on Valentine’s Day, as compared to 55 per cent of women. Who says chivalry’s dead?

Meanwhile, a survey from online shopping portal Rakuten found that out of seven countries surveyed across Asia and the West, Singaporeans are the least likely to have experienced a breakup or a bad relationship. Could that statistic be related to our high-calibre gift-giving?

Read our roundup of “spoil market” Valentine’s Day treats in Singapore to find out.

Eternally Yours at Capella

Couples looking for the ultimate Valentine’s Day staycation should look no further than Capella, where for S$19,999, you can enjoy a night at the hotel’s three bedroom manor, which comes with a dining room, a study, a lounge room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a mini lap pool. But that’s not all. You’ll receive a bouquet of roses upon arrival, a 90-minute spa treatment for two, and a private consultation and creation of a customised perfume. Then comes your five-course aphrodisiac-inspired champagne and wine paired dinner, served on a platform surrounded by floating tealights and flowers, as well as a private live musical performance during your meal. A personal photographer will snap your photos during the evening, and during the morning, you’ll get a Taittinger Champagne breakfast for two served on your manor’s terrace.

Oh yeah, and the package includes a return limousine ride to and from Capella, as well as a 24-hour butler. WHEW! Can anyone say SPOIL MARKET?
