Indulge your wanderlust at Heineken Cities Festival

Who says you have to travel the world to indulge your wanderlust? The Heineken Cities Festival is back and is bringing the best of six cities to your doorstep. Part party, part adventure, revellers can expect to embark on an unprecedented journey of discovery of Los Angeles, Madrid, Mexico City, Seoul, Tokyo and, of course, Singapore right in the heart of the city at Chijmes this Friday (August 28).

There will be mash-up performances by a Mariachi band from Mexico, Flamenco dancers, cosplayers, K-pop dancers and a DJ set by acclaimed DJ Cristian Varela from Spain. To celebrate the occasion, Heineken will also launch limited edition beers labelled with the six cities.

Heineken Cities Festival is on Aug 28, 7.30pm till late, at Chijmes.

Enjoy the night lights at Singapore Night Festival
The eighth installment of the Singapore Night Festival continues this weekend with light installations and circus-inspired performances that would appeal even to the most clueless of art noobs. Belgian group Theater Tol returns to the Festival with Gardens of Angels, a surreal street parade featuring dancing dolls and flowers that kicks off at Armenian Street and culminates at the National Museum of Singapore with a stunning aerial display by “flying angels”.

If you like your flowers still, then check out light installation Hanami, an illuminated garden with cherry trees and chandeliers at the Armenian Church. You can also indulge the shopaholic in you at The Local People x Singapore Art Museum Night Festival Art Market on Saturday (Aug 29) at SAM’s Glass Hall and Courtyard.

The Singapore Night Festival 2015 is on Aug 28-29, 7pm to 2am, at the Bras Basah-Bugis precinct. More information at Nightfest.sg.

Throw a tea party

If you’ve always wanted your own fine bone china set, but want none of that blue and white tableware a la Royal Copenhagen, perhaps Robinsons’ Collection De La Maison might tickle your fancy. Trimmed in gold and primarily in black and white, the collection brings a classy touch of heritage and beautiful nostalgia. Comprising a tea cup and saucer, teapot, sugar bowl, mug, milk jug and side plate, every item in the collection bears an illustration of the first Robinsons store at Raffles Place in 1898 - yes, that same store that was destroyed by a fire in 1972.

Collection De La Maison ($28-$56) is available at The Heritage Shop at Robinsons The Heeren from Aug 26, 5pm.
