Don’t wear cotton when doing sports. Ever. It retains moisture, doesn’t wick sweat, becomes heavy and is a burden. If the weather gets a wet, it won’t insulate you and will stick to you like a cold wet cloth. In extreme circumstances, it can even lead to mild hypothermia because cotton does not wick moisture away from the body.

Blisters are one of the biggest irritations for any sportsmen. Try sticking duct tape on your heels (where blisters normally appear) to reduce chaffing. With its waterproof nature, it will also withstand a lot of punishment.

Cramps are caused by a lack of acetylcholine, a chemical compound in your nervous system that acts as a neurotransmitter to stimulate the muscles to function and work. Mustard contains acetic acid that helps the body produce more acetylcholine. It also contains magnesium that relieves cramps. So, suck down some mustard at the start line, or have a few sachets in your pocket for during runs.
