Petalclouds

Why settle for photos when you can get boomerang videos of the rotating Petalclouds? The kinetic installation draws inspiration from orchid petals and is designed to depict the movement of clouds in the sky. Spanning 200 metres across the Central Galleria, Petalclouds consists of six ‘clouds’ and is best viewed from the transit area, where you can enjoy it up close.

Apart from the Petalclouds, the petal motif is also used throughout the interior of T4, from the carpets to the skylights and even dustbins.

Les Oiseaux (The Birds)

Greeting passengers in the Arrival and Departure Halls is Les Oiseaux (The Birds), an enchanting installation made up of three beautifully handcrafted stainless steel bird sculptures. Featuring two birds suspended mid-air, soaring high, and a third perched on the ground, the sculpture “symbolises the connection between sky and earth” as well as “dream and reality”.

For the best snaps, take your photos in the day when the Departure Hall is bathed in natural light or in the late afternoon when the sun is setting for a more magical feel.

Festive Garden

You’d be forgiven if you thought the Festive Garden (working title) is an art installation. The gazebo-like structure adorned with steel butterflies and flowers, is actually a futuristic garden and is the signature garden of T4. When completed, the garden, which is in the transit area, will be fitted with air plants, special lights as well as interactive elements.

Heritage Zone

The Heritage Zone, with its colourful backdrop of Peranakan shophouses, are sure to brighten any Instagram feed. Modelled after shophouses such as those in Katong and Chinatown, each shophouse reflects the unique architectural styles from the 1880s (Baroque) to the 1950s (Modern Deco).

Show off your sartorial selections while strolling along the shophouses or pose in front of the white grille gate or in one of the booth seats in Heavenly Wang Cafe for an old school vibe. We recommend wearing a minimalist or edgy outfit for that perfect juxtaposition of modern and retro.

Toilets

Yes, you read right, even the toilets are Instagram worthy, well at least the ones within the Heritage Zone. Sporting a British colonial-style design, the toilet ticks all the boxes: charming decor, spacious, well-lit and most importantly, it has huge mirrors for OOTD selfies.

The cream textured walls and long corridor outside the cubicles make stylish backdrops and there are even patterned floor tiles for shoe selfies.

Artsy chairs

It’s a slide… it’s an artwork… nope, it’s a bench, and an artsy one at that. Lounge on it, stand between the spirals or at the end of the “tunnel”, the bench is your canvas. Apart from this, there are numerous novelty seats scattered around the terminal.

Green wall

T4 may be the smallest of all the terminals but it is also the greenest, with more than half a million plants, trees and shrubs in and around the terminal. Our favourite green spot is the lush vertical garden outside the terminal, which lends a je ne sais quoi to a casually crossing the street shot. Just be sure you check for traffic first!
