Sharon grew up enjoying lavish nonya (Straits Chinese) feasts. Many of her precious memories were formed over meals with her family, and no milestone or special occasion would go by without a hearty home cooked meal. The ebullient and affable 41-year-old consultant started cooking in earnest for survival when she was homesick while studying overseas. It was a hankering for home cooked kway teow soup and her mother’s signature dishes that first led her to venture into the kitchen. Eventually, she found herself rushing to catch Jamie Oliver on TV before lectures and trawling Asian markets for ingredients to recreate the dishes her mother had lovingly made for her back home. She hopes that Eat List Star can be a platform for her to share the joys of good food.
