Innisfree Jeju Cherry Blossom collection, from $22

Targets the skin’s lack of hydration with the use of Jeju Cherry Blossom Leaf extracts together with naturally-derived Betaine from Beets. It hydrates the skin for a smooth and supple complexion, and that lit-from-within glow.

The lightweight texture of each product is perfect for Singapore’s hot and humid weather. The Tone-Up Cream doubles up well as a day-time moisturiser and instantly brightens the complexion, acting as a good makeup base, while the Jelly Cream’s gel texture absorbs easily and gives skin a smooth suppleness instantly. And when combined together - the Jelly Cream and Tone-Up Cream, at night, it gives the complexion a brighter glow when you wake.

Shiseido Makeup Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Collection, from $46

Last year, Shiseido revamped its entire colour collection, and this year, the brand is making its base makeup - foundations, concealers and powders, the focus. The Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing collection features lightweight formulas that adapt and react to your skin’s needs thanks to an ActiveForce Technology that resists sweat, sebum and facial movement, so it won’t settle in your pores and wrinkles.

It’s truly hard to pick a favourite from the range, but if we have to, it would be the Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Cushion Compact. Just a little goes a long way. The texture is lightweight and feels like you’re wearing nothing on the skin. Its promise of 16 hours of coverage really holds as our complexion looked fresh at midday after lunch, and even after work. It is our current go-to foundation for everyday-wear.

Available at Shiseido counters and Sephora stores.

A hardworking serum that not only improves skin’s hydration and skin texture but also boosts its radiance too. The Dr Belmeur Vita Serine Serum is a triple care serum that contains a Vitamin Complex, Hyaluronic Acid and Serine to keep skin healthy, smooth and supple.

The water-like texture absorbs quickly and leaves no tacky feel behind. And the soft citrus scent is a lovely pick-me-up in the mornings and after a long day at work. And in just two weeks, our complexion was looking a little clearer and brighter too.

Available at The Face Shop boutiques.

Banobagi Vita Genic Jelly Masks and Vita Cocktail Foil Masks, $4.90 and $5.90 respectively

Banobagi Vita Genic Jelly Masks and Vita Cocktail Foil Masks, $4.90 and $5.90 respectively

The Koreans love their sheet masks, and these Banobagi ones are not only affordable, but they’re effective too - especially since they have been created by the doctors behind Banobagi Plastic Surgery in Korea. The Jelly Masks (comes in four variants - Hydrating, Whitening, Lifting and Relaxing) contain highly-concentrated essences derived from natural active ingredients from Jeju Island, like Aloe Vera Leaf and Hallabong oranges, while the Foil Masks (comes in three variants - Age, Aqua and Brightening) uses a unique triple-layer foil mask to lock in moisture and active ingredients such as minerals and vitamins to keep skin healthy and youthful.

The Jelly Masks come super soaked with essence yet doesn’t slip and slide once it’s applied onto the face. But our new go-to is the Age Foil Mask. It left our complexion smooth, supple and radiant instantly. There was also a slight warming sensation during application, which we found immensely soothing too.

Diane Bonheur Hair, $22.90 each

You’ve heard about “farm-to-table”, but what “farm-to-hair”? The Diane Bonheur haircare range is made with over 98 per cent natural ingredients such as Olive, Sunflower, Milk Thistle, Argan and Pequi oils that come from trusted farmers around the world. In addition, the fragrances are also cultivated and extracted from Grasse in France, the perfume capital of the world. Choose from two ranges - Grasse Rose to nourish damaged locks, and Orange Flower to tame frizziness.

Our hair felt much softer and smoother after one wash. The Grasse Rose range also smelt just like an expensive perfume and left our hair with one of the nicest rose scents we’ve smelt.

Available at Watsons, Don Don Donki and BHG stores.

Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette, $83

Urban Decay Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette, $83

Another Naked eyeshadow palette with 12 brand-new shades to add to your collection. From classic golds to warm browns in matte and shimmer finishes, it’s all you need to create a variety of looks that will be suitable for both office-wear and special occasion.

What surprised us the most was that this palette doesn’t have deep, smoky shades as with the other Naked palettes. But the combination of warm gold, honey and amber tones together with the chocolate and bronze hues makes this really easy-to-wear. The collection also includes a limited edition Honey Eyeshadow Primer Potion that comes with a pretty gold shimmer hue that is good enough to wear on its own.

Available at Urban Decay boutiques and Sephora stores.

Whal Myung skincare, from $28

Inspired by a 120-year tradition, Whal Myung focuses on creating skincare formulas from traditional Korean medical recipes. Developed by Korea’s first pharmaceutical company - Dong Wha Pharm, the secret in its skincare range is a blend of five herbal extracts, the WM 1897-P5 that delivers anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits to strengthen the skin, keeping it healthy, radiant and youthful looking. The collection includes a sheet mask, two types of serums, two creams and a cleansing balm.

Our favourite is the Whal Myung Skin Elixir that is a toner, serum and facial oil in one. Despite containing oils, it absorbs well and left our skin smooth and supple, with no tacky finish. It also gave our complexion a soft glow that got our friends complimenting us too.

Frudia My Orchard Hand Cream, $4.90

Frudia My Orchard Hand Cream, $4.90

A well-loved drugstore K-beauty brand, the Frudia My Orchard Hand Creams are enriched with fruit extracts, thanks to a unique R Vita W cold pressed juice technology, and packed with antioxidants to protect and nourish the hands. Comes in six scents - Dragon Fruit, Shea Butter, Quince, Raspberry, Peach and Grapefruit, and in two variants, Rich and Soft.

The scents on these hand creams are intense. When our friend tried the Peach Hand Cream, we could smell it the moment she applied it. Our personal favourite is the Dragon Fruit Hand Cream. It has a unique and refreshing scent, and while its texture was little rich upon application, it absorbed easily and left our hands soft and supple.

Intrinsic Foam Cleanser and Sol D UV Sunscreen, $24 and $42 respectively
Intrinsic Foam Cleanser and Sol D UV Sunscreen, $24 and $42 respectively

Intrinsic Foam Cleanser and Sol D UV Sunscreen, $24 and $42 respectively

A clinically professional skincare line under Dong Wha Pharm - the same people responsible for Whal Myung, and sold only in hospitals and clinics in Korea, this skincare duo is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skins and even if you’re suffering from skin woes like eczema or rosacea. In addition, they contain no irritants such as synthetic fragrances or chemicals too.

The sunscreen has a non-greasy texture, which is perfect for Singapore’s humid weather, while the cleanser easily removes all traces of dirt, grime and even waterproof makeup. Our skin never felt so clean. Best bit? It didn’t leave it feeling tight or uncomfortable either.

Fresh Strawberry Exfoliating Wash, from $24
Fresh Strawberry Exfoliating Wash, from $24
18 Sep 2019

Fresh Strawberry Exfoliating Wash, from $24

A gentle cleanser that is both a facial wash and exfoliating scrub. It contains two different sized sugar crystals, Strawberry and Soapberry Peel extracts to not only remove traces of dirt and impurities but also refine the skin texture for a smoother and brighter complexion at the same time. Gentle enough to use daily or leave it on the skin for at least five minutes before exfoliating the skin for a deeper cleanse.

This exfoliating wash has got to be one of the nicest smelling ones we’ve tried. The sweet fruity scent instantly uplifts our spirits and leaves our skin feeling clean and soft. However, we did find that the amount of water used when cleansing can make a difference too; using less water resulted in a slightly harsher scrub, which was a little uncomfortable on our sensitive skins.

Available at Fresh boutiques and Sephora stores.
