Can everyone pull off a fluorescent lip?

Not only has the weather been getting hotter, but it seems like the current lip look adored by your favourite K celebs (EXID’s Hani, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’s Park Min Young) seems to be just as hot as well (read: bold, bright and almost neon lip colours).

Perhaps the most pressing question would be “Can every woman wear a fluorescent lip colour? The answer, according to makeup artist Larry Yeo, is a resounding “YES!”

The only thing that is holding many back is whether or not the colour suits their skin tone. But Larry says that as long as you are comfortable with it, you can wear any fluorescent colour. “Since these colours are known for their brilliance, they are suitable on all skin tones.”

In addition, the finish - glossy, matte or cream, is also dependent on your personal preference because as long you wear the colour with confidence, you’ll look fab.

Here are Larry's top 3 tips when trying this bright trend:

1. Best way to wear the trend: As clear and vibrant as possible. Do not be afraid to let it be a statement colour to shine from your face. And use a matching lip liner to allow the lip colour to stand out.

2. For the wallflower who still wants to be part of the crowd: Soft stains are fine, but if it’s carelessly applied, it might look like a mistake. Instead, apply it as a powerful strong lip, but have the edge of the lip line feathered out with an eyeshadow brush to keep the intensity on the inner lip.

3. Complete the look: Makeup-wise, everything on the face should be pulled back. With such a stunning colour, you will want to keep the focus on the lips. To complement, do softly drawn brows and a paired down eye - keeping eyeliner to a minimum, but load up on mascara and use a neutral eyeshadow to even out the skin tone.

While no bold colour is unsuitable, here are our suggestions to help you along
