The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner

Move aside, WoWo – there’s a new ginger shampoo in town, and this one is not only unencumbered by controversy, but it is affordable and calming. Blended with ginger essential oil from Sri Lanka, birch bark, white willow extracts, and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this line of shampoo and conditioner clears dandruff and soothes the scalp. We couldn’t stop smelling our hair after using it.

Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly

Clinique’s clear, fragrance-free hydrating jelly is as no-nonsense as moisturisers get, but with 24-hour hydration repair and anti-pollution technology, the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly sure packs a punch. We loved this one’s mild formula – thanks in part to its quick absorption rate and to the fact that it is oil-free – and found it effective at helping our skin retain its suppleness.

Available now at Sephora stores and on Sephora.sg, and at Clinique counters at selected department stores from 1 August

Kiehl’s Ginger Leaf Hibiscus Firming Mask

Kiehl’s Ginger Leaf Hibiscus Firming Mask

Believe it or not, this is Kiehl’s first firming mask. The fragrance, which is at once spicy and floral, is pleasantly zesty, while the texture feels as velvety as cupcake frosting. In addition to smelling great, this mask won us over because, one, you can wear it overnight – a must since the scent practically lulls us to sleep – and two, because our skin actually looked smoother after a few nights of wear.

$88, available at Kiehl’s stores

Moist Diane Perfect Beauty

Love Moist Diane’s Argan Oil series? The Japanese shampoo brand’s new and improved Argan Oil series, now called the Perfect Beauty line, combines organic Argan Oil with customised Beauty Keratin to target a variety of needs in Asian hair. All in all, there are six different shampoos, and they target everything from chemical damage, to coarseness, to oiliness, and each uses a different kind of Keratin to restore the hair back to health. Our choice? The Extra Damage Repair Shampoo and Treatment, which uses Amino Keratin to treat hair breakage and colour fading. Out of all the different shampoos, this one smells the most like Argan Oil, so it makes the otherwise arduous task of shampooing long, damaged hair feel less like a chore.

$16.90 each for shampoo and treatment, available at Watsons, Fairprice (selected range), Tokyu Hands, BHG, Welcia-BHG and Don Don Donki

Kose Cosmeport Softymo Lachesca Wipe Oil

Argan Oil isn’t just good for your hair – it’s great for hydrating and reducing inflammation on skin as well. Soaked in cleansing water and infused with Argan oil, these gentle makeup wipes scour off grime while leaving behind a glowy sheen. It’s safe to say that we thoroughly enjoyed using these after a long day at work.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Premium Hydrating Hydro-Gel Mask

Speaking of kiasu-ness, Hada Labo’s first hydro-gel mask contains not one, not two, but six hyaluronic acids for multi-depth hydration, as well as 4 Ceramides to help strengthen the skin’s barrier function. At $5.50 per sheet, the mask certainly feels premium, and goes a long way at the end of a stressful week. Use alongside Hada Labo’s new Super Hyaluronic Acid Premium Hydrating Night Cream ($35.90) for best results.

Nightingale Daily Derma Cleansing Pads

Thanks to their small size and the compact packaging, these Korean cleansing pads are a dream to travel with and even to tote around on the go. At first, we had our doubts – could these palm-sized pads really be as effective as a cleansing wipe? But they’re so saturated, that just one was more than enough to remove all our makeup – including our mascara. That’s right, these are safe to use around the eye area as well.

Tofu No Moritaya Sheet Mask (Aging Care) + Face Pack

Everyone’s talking about self-care nowadays, which includes long, luxurious masking sessions. So if you’ve got some time on your hands, why not take it a step further by double masking? We’ve been trying the trend with the Tofu No Moritaya Soymilk Yogurt Face Pack ($33.90) and Sheet Masks ($15.90) by applying the Face Pack beneath the sheet mask. The sheet mask, which contains 3 types of hyaluronic acid and an abundance of food, fruit, and vegetable-derived ingredients, is already pretty potent, so while applying it on top of the moisturising Face Pack might feel a little kiasu, we can’t say that our skin has suffered for it.

Nightingale Tako Pack Nose (3 Steps Blackhead Solution)

Dissatisfied with ordinary pore strips? Check out this Korean three-step regimen for ousting those pesky blackheads. The first step, which takes 15 minutes, preps the skin by opening the pores and loosening sebum. The second step pulls out sebum and black heads, and the third step closes up the pores again. While pore strips are generally hit or miss for us, we’re happy to report that our noses felt uncharacteristically smooth after using this one. The whole process takes about half an hour, so make sure you’ve prepped an episode of your favourite drama to watch while the masks work their magic.
