Aprilskin Real Calendula Deep Moisture Essence ($32.90) and Peeling Pad ($29.90)

Before you dismiss this as yet another essence among hundreds, look at it up close: there are real bits of Calendula petals that melt right into the skin (a real boon for making our self-care routine feel even more spa-like than is already). Formulated with 80 percent Calendula water, hydrating hyaluronic acid, soothing Calendula oil, and a pore reduction complex, this power-packed product absorbs quickly and makes our skin feel extra pliant.

Likewise, the alcohol-free toner pads use 80 percent real Calendula water to soothe and hydrate the skin while exfoliating ingredients polish away daily impurities. A must for anyone who wants brighter skin without working too hard for it.

Bio-Essence Bio-Water Radiance-Boosting Water and Mattifying Water

The market might be oversaturated with facial mists, but Bio-Essence’s Bio-Waters caught our idea because one, they’re relatively affordable, and two, because of their skincare benefits. The Radiance-Boosting Water contains 5 percent Vitamin B3 to counteract dullness – just what we need after a long day at work – while the Mattifying Water promises instant velvet skin, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties and anti-pollution formula. Our cheeks and foreheads really did feel a little less oily after we sprayed ourselves, so we’ll be carrying them in our tote bags from now on.

$18.90 for 100ml, available at CK Department Store, Guardian, NTUCC Fairprice, OG, Robinsons, Watsons and selected cosmetic houses

Joy by Dior

Like its predecessors, Dior’s first new fragrance line in 19 years, Joy is a delicate baby pink. With a top note of citrus and a floral body, with sandalwood bottom notes, the overall scent is fresh and a little powdery – an easy-to-wear fragrance for those who dislike heavy scents.

Etude House Double Lasting Cushion

Etude House Double Lasting Cushion

Fans of Etude House’s Double Lasting Foundation will love the cushion, which provides lighter coverage in convenient packaging – perfect for a midday touch-up. Available in 14 shades, the new semi-matte cushion does fine on its own for about 6 hours and applies easily and evenly – one layer was enough to make our complexions smooth and glowing. However, for longer days, we’d still recommend going with the original Double Lasting Foundation and using the cushion for maintenance.

The cushion ($32) and refill ($16) are available in 14 shades at all ETUDE HOUSE stores islandwide and at the official online store on Lazada and Shopee

HERA’s Rouge Holic Cream and Matte Lipsticks

HERA has expanded its bestselling Rouge Holic range with two new lines, cream and matte. Like the existing Rouge Holic shine lipsticks, these deliver highly-pigmented colours in 34 new sensual, sophisticated shades: think siren red, velvety fuchsia, and luxe orange. We love how easily the cream lipsticks glide on, as well as the longevity of the matte range.

$45 each, available at HERA’s Takashiyama S.C. counter

Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara

While more and more beauty brands are becoming cruelty-free, it’s not easy for the socially and environmentally-conscious customer to find something but conscionable and luxe. Which is why we’re so glad we discovered Hourglass, a California-based company that promises to become one of the first vegan cruelty-free luxury beauty brands by 2020. But upon first glance, you would never know. The packaging is sexy and sleek (as opposed to nature-inspired, as per other vegan and cruelty-free brands), while the makeup itself feels decidedly high-end. Check out the Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, which feels luxuriously heavy in one’s palm, while adding density to the lashes without clumpiness.

$46, available in Sephora and on Sephora.sg

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe

Tired of the usual matte, shine, and cream lipstick finishes? Then we dare you to give prismatic lips a shot. Like glitter or metallic lips, pearly lips will make quite an impression, but if you’re the type to use makeup as a channel for your inner diva, then by all means, try these. Surprisingly enough, they’re not sticky, despite their dewy texture. Available in 12 shades, and we’d recommend Ritzy (pictured above) if you’re ready to fully lean into the look.

Lux Luminique’s Superfoods shampoo

Well, well, well – the oh-so-trendy Acai and Goji berries have migrated from our smoothie bowls to our shampoos. We have to give it to Japanese haircare brand Lux Luminique’s Superfood brand for not only making our hair smell like a healthy hipster dessert, but for actually doing what it promises. We have yet to try the Goji Berry Moist shampoo, but we’re loving the antioxidant-loaded Acai Straight shampoo and conditioner, which makes our over-treated hair look a lot smoother than usual.

$16.90 each, available in Watsons and Guardians; available in major supermarkets and hypermarkets from October 2018.

Shu Uemura Lightbulb Cushion

If you love Shu Uemura’s Lightbulb Foundation, which launched in 2013 and has recently been reformulated, then you’ll love this news: it now comes in cushion form! Perfect for on-the-go touch-ups, this cushion offers a glassier finish than the brand’s Petal Skin foundation, which also means that it’s wetter – so make sure you wear absorbent skincare and apply a primer beforehand. But in general, we love how breathable this product feels and radiant it makes us look in the mirror.

$78, available at Shu Uemura stores and counters

Verdure Hair Fall Control Shampoo

Thinning hair is a very real concern nowadays, which is why we made major grabby hands toward Verdure’s Hair Fall Control Shampoo. To help nourish the hair, Verdure’s 100% dimethicone-free shampoo uses ingredients that improve blood circulation (gingko biloba leaf extract and ginger root extract); moisturise hair (orange peel and lavender oil), and nourish hair follicles (antioxidant-rich marine extracts, Vitamin B3, and a derivative of Hyaluronic acid hydrate the scalp while reducing excessive oil secretion). So far, this shampoo has left our scalps feeling fresh and healthy – less flakes, less oil, yet not less dry, which bodes well for our overall hair volume.

$38, available on the official Verdure eShop and selected salons.

Estheclinic’s HIFU Treatment

Estheclinic’s HIFU Treatment

If the thought of getting a facelift scares you, and the thought of using a facial roller device every night feels like the most tedious thing ever, then a non-invasive lifting procedure might be the way to go. We checked out Estheclinic’s Ultimate Lift HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Treatment, which uses thermal heat to melt facial fats and stimulate collagen production. While we experienced a little pain when the wand glided over the bonier parts of the face (such as the forehead), the sharp, shooting pain subsided within seconds, and the whole treatment took just over 20 minutes. Not a bad deal if you’re too busy for hour-long treatments. Results last between three and six months after two to four sessions, but we definitely experienced a bit of an eyebrow lift immediately afterward.

$580 per a la carte session; $1380 for 3 sessions and $2280 for 6 sessions
