Come quick! This pop-up food fest is only here till Dec 9

We ate our way through Clarke Quay at an inaugural pop-up food festival on Read Bridge while enjoying live music by resident bands and DJs from nearby watering holes. From Asian eats like pork buns, lobster ramen and condensed milk buns, to Western faves such as paella, sliders, pork knuckle and tacos, there’s something for everyone from the participating 15 restaurants. 

Here for only five days from now till Dec 9 (6pm till late), admission to the festival is free and you can sample all the menus’ favourites at special tasting prices between $10 and $32. Cocktails, wine and craft beers will also be made available to complete your meal. Bon appétit!

NYE Countdown: Rally the gang on Dec 31 (9pm till late) and bring them to Clarke Quay for a New Year's Eve Block Party. Countdown to the new year with 987 DJs Gerald Koh and Kimberley Wang, and party the night away with human toy green soldiers and a Unicorn Parade!

This dish took some time to make because the chef deep-fries on the spot, so you get freshly-made, piping hot, catch of the day. Fish is fresh, springy and seasoned to perfection.

Bar bite haven, The Pump Room prides in its Beef Meatballs ($10) and Crispy Pork Knuckles ($18 for half portion), which we sampled. The skin is deliciously crispy, while the meat is tender and juicy.

We ask the chef what's in this grilled sarnie, and he said a Cuban. His words, not ours! Jokes aside, Cuban melts coupled with cheese and gherkin, are simply delicious! This is our second favourite dish of the night.

We were too cowardly to try the signature Double Boiled Tonic Soup with Crocodile Meat ($8), so we settled for the Chilli Crab ($12), which we enjoyed dipping with the fried mantou.

This famous Hong Kong chain known for its pork chop and Cha Chaan Teng dishes, had such a long queue, we had to settle for a candid shot of the chef making this signature snack. Judging from the satisfied faces of those devouring the freshly-made buns, the food here is worth a try!

We've never tried beef hump (beef shoulder) before, but after savouring this tender hunk of grilled meat, we may never want to eat any other part of the cow any more! It's definitely one of our favourites at the festival.

Head here for Mexican fare: Burrito ($15), nachos ($12) or Pastor Taco ($15) served in soft wholewheat taco shells and filled with your choice of grilled pork or chicken. A little on the pricey side, simply because the portions are bigger.

Supposedly the most popular dish on Harry's menu, this burger was a little underwhelming compared to all the other sliders available at the festival. We suggest you go for the Charred Edamame ($8) and Chilli Beef Bun ($12).
