What the stars ate this week

This week, Ann Kok and Taiwan actor Steven Chiang had dinner at Ian Fang’s resto, Chen Diya hosted Apple Hong and Priscelia Chan at her cafe, and Joshua Tan celebrated his birthday with his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Joanne Peh, who is at a zen retreat in Kerela, looked like she could do with some side dishes from Terence Cao’s enormous nasi padang platter.

What they ate: Dinner at House of Mu

Yummy factor: Reunions are the best - especially if there's yummy nosh involved. Ann and Steven were spotted at Ian Fang’s resto with their own meat platters and sides like calamari and truffle fries to share. Guys, next time try the spicy chicken wings. They are kickass.

What they ate: Japanese food

Yummy factor: Darren and Evelyn had a yummy date night out at the Singapore Island Country Club, and their Japanese dinner featured fresh sashimi, chawanmushi, grilled saba fish, and a prawn and kombu dish - sounds perfect with some quality short-grain rice.

What she ate: Vegetarian meals

Yummy factor: The mother-of-two is currently in Kerala, India for an ayurvedic retreat, and while her holistic vegetarian meals don't look too appetising or filling, Joanne seems to be really enjoying them.

Joshua Tan

What he ate: Chocolate birthday cake

Yummy factor: Joshua celebrated his birthday in advance with his bae Zoen Tay, and we can't help but think they're a picture of bliss. Is it love that has them smiling with giddiness, or the fact that they are about to tuck into a moist chocolate cake?

What she ate: Wanton noodles

Yummy factor: Sora had her fix of wanton noodles from Kok Lee at Foch Road, and thankfully there wasn't much of a queue. Anyone else craving for some plump, old-school wantons now?

What they ate: Steak at Wolfgang's Steakhouse.

Yummy factor: Ya Hui celebrated BFF Chen Liping's hatch day yesterday (Aug 22) over steak and wine and we can only imagine how pleasurable it must have been to bite into that sizzling, perfectly pink Potterhouse Steak (don't mind us while we wipe the drool off the keyboard).

Alfred Sim

What he ate: Unlimited servings of kueh

Yummy factor: When you're offered unlimited servings of kueh lapis, nine-layered kueh and more at Shangri-La Hotel’s The Line, what do you do? Take a leaf out of Alfred’s book (or kueh off his plate?) and have as many as you can of course! And when you're done, wash it all down with a solid mug of teh tarik.

Hong Ling and Nick Teo

What they ate: Romantic dinner

Yummy factor: Nick whisked Hong Ling away to the Cebu for a birthday getaway and boy has it been a gastronomic adventure. From the sumptuous brekkies (think fluffy pancakes, on-point omelette, salads and pastries!) to their romantic candlelit dinner, Nick has certainly made sure that the birthday girl is well fed!

Terence Cao

What he ate: Nasi padang in Batam

Yummy factor: Terence must have either been feeling really ambitious or hungry - check out the spread in front of him. Forget the tempting fried items on the side - the mountain of rice alone (and some sambal belacan!) is enough to make any grown man full. We hope he's sharing!

What they ate: Piakssant and coffee at Sanity Coffee Bar

Yummy factor: The ladies paid a visit to singer Chen Diya’s (one-half of The Freshman) cafe and caught up with her over the cafe’s signature flaky Piakssant (flattened croissant) and cups of Joe (aptly named “Dark Matter”).

What they ate: Hot dogs and root beer floats at A&W

Yummy factor: So Kim dragged Yixi all the way to Jewel Changi Airport to try A&W (yes, she hasn't had it since it re-opened on our shores), and while Yixi looks unimpressed, it was probably hard to say no to ice-cream floats, curly fries and Coney Dogs.

Yasminne Cheng

What she ate: Korean BBQ

Yummy factor: Tender grilled beef sure sounds like heaven - even if it means leaving the resto with your clothes smelling like barbecued meat. Check out the juicy meat on Yasminne’s grill at S. Korean restaurant Sopung - Yasminne was definitely in for a treat!

Lee Teng

What he drank: A really cold beer

Yummy factor: Fancy having a sub-zero beer like Lee Teng? He got his icy cold Sapporo beer from Saturday House, and we love how the resto takes the effort to serve the beer in a frozen mug as well. Perfect for beating the heat wave.

Chen Hanwei and Phyllis Quek

What they ate: Dinner at Famous Treasure

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Hanwei and Phyllis! The August babies celebrated their birthdays alongside fellow celeb pals Huang Biren, Hong Huifang, Chen Xiuhuan, Yvonne Lim, and Carole Lin. The best part? They were both given their own cakes! We suspect Hanwei had a durian-flavoured one, while Phyllis had an oreo cake.

What she ate: Porridge

Yummy factor: The Famous Zhou towkay Dennis Chew brought Yvonne to his stall for some hearty porridge, and boy was she treated to a generous portion of it! Wise decision crack an egg in it.

Ferlyn Wong

Ferlyn Wong

What she ate: Swiss roll

Yummy factor: The Swiss roll looked like it could do with more buttercream, but we're pretty sure it tasted like heaven for Ferlyn who had been filming under the hot sun all day and was craving for coffee and cake (which we are assuming the roll was able to deliver at the same time).

Desmond Tan

What he ate: Birthday cakes

Yummy factor: Awww... Desmond turned 33 on Aug 19 and received multiple celebratory cakes and much love from his loved ones - including his doggies, though we think greedy Hoshi is more interested in the cake than his pawrent.

What she ate: Bingsu

Yummy factor: When temperatures start soaring, it's time to dig into an ice-cold bingsu like Jaime - bonus points if it's naturally sweetened with grapes and juicy watermelon cubes.
