What the stars ate this week

What a week it's been - James Seah had his first taste of dog food, Rebecca Lim had a floral lollie, and Shane Pow and Kimberly Wang made their own gyozas in Japan (not without a few mishaps, heh!). Meanwhile, Fann Wong arranged for a surprise delivery to Christopher Lee, and Chew Chor Meng hosted his celeb pals Zoe Tay, Pan Lingling and Chen Xiuhuan for a delish lunch.

Christopher Lee

What he ate: Bubble tea and burgers

Yummy factor: There’s nothing quite like a surprise delivery of juicy beef burgers from Fatburger and thirst-quenching bubble tea from Milksha when you’re hard at work filming. Ever the sweet wife, Fann Wong made sure to keep Chris (and the rest of the crew) well-fed whilst on set.

What he ate: Char siew rice for breakfast

Yummy factor: Considering Andie’s strict exercise regime, it’s probably no surprise that the man can eat quite a fair bit - check out the huge plate of char siew doused in sweet sauce! And he claims this is just his "first breakfast".

What they ate: Homemade gyoza

Yummy factor: Shane and Kim attended a cooking class in Japan, and ended up trying their hands at making gyoza. Whilst the shape of the lovebirds’ Japanese-style dumplings weren’t the most aesthetically-pleasing, at least the yumminess and crisp texture made up for it!

What he ate: Dog food

Yummy factor: So James had a taste of human-grade dog food fresh from a sizzling pan, and he actually liked the combination of minced meat, chopped carrots and what looks like pumpkin. Honestly though, it does look pretty appetising - we wouldn’t have known it was meant for pets!

What he ate: Lala

Yummy factor: Even though Dasmond isn’t a huge fan of seafood, this generous plate of fresh clams from Apollo Marine Seafood certainly whetted his appetite with its sweetness and umami flavour.

What they ate: Porridge at Chor Meng's congee stall, The Famous Zhou

Yummy factor: From the looks of it, the ladies certainly had a wonderful time patronising their buddy’s porridge stall - check out the spread they had with their bowls of thick, flavourful pork congee. We’re eyeing the rolls of perfectly-fried fish skin and fried silver fish, for sure.

What she ate: Korean BBQ

Yummy factor: Jeanette seldom has time to have a leisurely lunch, so when she does manage to sneak some time out, she makes sure it’s worth her while by having a hearty Korean BBQ with succulent meats and kimchi stew.

Hazelle Teo

What she ate: Chicken rendang and kueh dadar

Yummy factor: Hazelle, or rather Masterchef Hazy, got busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen (albeit with lots of help), and the results honestly don’t look half bad, despite her failed attempts at creating the pandan pancake for the kueh. Check out her pot of spiced chicken rendang and freshly-wrapped kueh dadar! Something tells us that the rendang went perfectly well with the coloured rice...

Rosalyn Lee

What she ate: Dog meat

Yummy factor: While dog meat may be controversial, Rozz is game to try anything at least once. She had her first taste of stewed dog meat in Kaesong, North Korea and likened it to “bland mutton”. Safe to say, it was her first and last bite of a German shepherd (or any breed, really).

What he ate: Dumplings

Yummy factor: Another celeb who can proudly say he’s made his own dumplings from scratch this week was Tosh - he rolled out his own dumpling skin, filled it with minced meat and even sealed them effortlessly with deft fingers. And yes, they passed the boiling test - no spills spotted.

Kayly Loh

What she ate: 'Shroom burger and fries at Shake Shack

Yummy factor: The stars were aligned for Kayly and she only had to queue for 15 minutes to get her pre-flight fix of Shake Shack at Jewel Changi Airport. Of course she had to get the Shack Stack and thick-cut fries to go along with it, right?

Pornsak

What he ate: Hakka-style porridge and rice wine

Yummy factor: It’s not every day one comes across Hakka-style porridge, complete with collagen-rich braised pig trotter and its rich gravy. Pornsak also got to try some rice wine (doesn’t its pale golden hue remind you of champagne?), and he loved its sweet taste.

What she ate: Meat skewers

Yummy factor: Check out the huge Chinese-style meat skewers Tracy bought from a stall at Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne. Freshly grilled over charcoal upon order, we bet they tasted as yummy as they look.

What she ate: French food

Yummy factor: Sharon may be back in Singapore, but she’s still getting her fix of French food whilst celebrating her birthday (13 August) in advance with friends at Les Amis. And of course she had to indulge in two quintessential French favourites: caviar and chocolate (cake).

Yummy factor: Denise had a slice of the famous Original Sacher-Torte in Vienna, Austria and she absolutely loved it. A rich, chocolatey sponge cake with a mountain of whipped cream served on the side? Yes, please!

What she ate: Prata

Yummy factor: Although Joanne normally tries to avoid consuming gluten, she couldn’t help but indulge in good ol’ prata on the last day of filming. After all, she needed something sinful to chase away the blues...

What they ate: Coffee and cakes

Yummy factor: The close pals enjoyed a cup of Joe along with a slice of cheesecake at Just Want Coffee, a popular coffee joint in Johor Bahru. Either the coffee was really good, or both Liping and Ya Hui were just happy to be having a quick break from the hustle and bustle back in Singapore.

Yummy factor: Yvonne had her fill of grilled pig intestines in Korean, where she ordered at least two servings of it. Thinly sliced and grilled till its beautifully charred with juices oozing, it’s no wonder she loved it!
