What the stars ate this week

The stars had plenty of reason to celebrate this week! Fann Wong and Zed Zed reunited with Christopher Lee over an Italian dinner; Carrie Wong got two birthday surprises from Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh, and Jade Seah bumped into Jeanette Aw and Patricia Mok while having champagne brunch.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Chan and Jesseca Liu had a cheesy time in Chiang Mai, and Belinda Lee welcomed the new decade with all things indulgent. Read on to find out what the celebs ate for their first meal of the new year.

Carrie Wong

What she ate: "Rice ball cake"

Yummy factor: Happy belated birthday, Carrie! The actress, who turned 26 on Jan 1, had an advanced celebration courtesy of Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh. Instead of a cake, they got her a yummy bowl of old school rice balls with a single red candle and even sang her the birthday song. But that's not all. The couple and Carrie's boyfriend, Boris Lin, planned another surprise for her on set yesterday (Jan 2), this time with a proper cake. The birthday girl's reaction is priceless!

What she ate: Fried chicken and beer at Rumours Bar & Grill

Yummy factor: For her first meal of the year, Belinda went all out and had a sinful but oh-so-satisfying golden-fried chicken and beer combo. She may have broken her New Year's resolution to lose weight, but that hearty serving of fat chips are worth the calories!

Yummy factor: Christopher is finally back from his work trip and Zed Zed couldn’t be happier (aww, look at his grin). Of course, the family had to celebrate with a yummy Italian meal -- Fann and Chris had their fill of freshly-shucked oysters and wine, whilst picky eater Zed had creamy pasta and his share of the bread basket.

What she ate: Kid-approved laab, or meat salad

Yummy factor: For Jamie and her family, it was time to give the festive feasting a break and opt for something lighter and healthier, like the homemade laab Jamie made from scratch! Featuring ground toasted rice, minced meat and a medley of fish sauce and lime juice, the dish is simple and satisfying all at once. Keen to whip this up? Jamie posted the recipe on her Instagram. Don't say bo jio.
