What the stars ate this week

This week, Kimberly Wang had her fill of fancy donuts in Los Angeles, and Yvonne Lim, whose hubby ordered her a carton of frozen Mao Shan Wang, managed to get her durian cravings satisfied in Taiwan. Meanwhile, Jeremy Chan was pleasantly surprised for his birthday, Tosh Zhang was none too pleased with his delivery meal, and the Muttons had a bromantic night out over seafood.

The Muttons

What they ate: Seafood at The Oyster Bank

Yummy factor: Justin Ang and Vernon A went all out on seafood and indulged in the sea’s freshest catch - think fresh shrimps, baked oysters and a very Insta-worthy spicy mentaiko salmon truffle rice bowl (how delish does that sound?).

Oh, and P.S.: The DJs’ roast shop Fook Kin, which suffered a kitchen accident last month, has reopened for business!

Apple Hong

What she ate: Lobster roll

Yummy factor: Apple braved the crowds at Jewel Changi Airport to satisfy her cravings for the signature lobster roll from Burger & Lobster. And whilst she thought the version she had in London was better, at least the picturesque view made up for it. And we must say that they were pretty generous with the lobster claw and chunks.

What she ate: Fancy donuts

Yummy factor: Kimberly got a dozen fluffy donuts from SK’s Donuts in Los Angeles, and with toppings such as Reese’s peanut butter chunks, bacon crisps and colourful M&Ms, we bet they taste as amazing as they look.

Yvonne Lim

What she ate: Frozen durian from Damma King

Yummy factor: Watcha gonna do when you crave durian but can't get fresh ones in Taiwan? Yvonne’s husband ordered a carton of frozen Mao Shan Wang from Malaysia, and the actress loved it. While it probably doesn’t taste as yummy as the ones fresh from the shell, it’s a decent quick fix when the craving strikes.

Jeremy Chan

What he ate: Birthday cake

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Jeremy! He was pleasantly surprised with a birthday cake decorated with lots of fruits by his crew members, and it looks like the 38-year-old was so surprised that he continued holding on to his drink carton even while he was making a birthday wish.

Jean Danker

What she ate: Spaghetti

Yummy factor: Jean's hubby, DJ Glenn Ong, whipped up a legit tomato-based spaghetti for her, and their doggie looked like it really wanted some too. Well.. wait till you realise that there’s plenty of hot sauce in it, Biscuit.

Jaime Teo

What she ate: A&W meal

Yummy factor: Jaime visited Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru and decided to have her fill of A&W - think thirst-quenching root beer float, coney dog and lots of curly fries. After all, there wasn’t a queue to worry about, unlike the outlet in Singapore.

Bonnie Loo

What she ate: Birthday cake

Yummy factor: Bonnie’s fan club celebrated her 25th birthday (July 12) at XY Hotel Bugis with a gorgeous celebration in her favourite colour theme - blue! We love how her beautiful ombre cake was topped with macarons, and check out the fruit teas, boba milk, stacks of pizzas, and Win Win snacks prepared by her fans!

Oon Shu An

What she ate: Chocolate pastry

Yummy factor: If Shu An’s ASMR-style video doesn’t make you crave for a rich, chocolatey pastry, we honestly aren’t sure what else will - just look at (and hear) her sultrily savouring the pillowy soft cocoa-rich treat.

Tosh Zhang

What he ate: Very dry and sad baked salmon

Yummy factor: So Tosh got really hangry because he spent a small fortune on his food delivery, only to have his salmon delivered late and in a ridiculously small portion. Well, at least the "kid's meal" looked colourful with the two broccoli florets and cherry tomatoes.

What she ate: Waffles with ice cream

Yummy factor: Ferlyn had two Belgian-style waffles topped with two huge scoops of ice-cream, and that wasn’t all. It even came with marshmallows drizzled with chocolate sauce - talk about a decadent dessert.

Phyllis Quek

What she ate: Hot pot with hot friends Pan Ling Ling, Aileen Tan, Tang Miao Ling, Hong Zhao Rong, and more, to celebrate former actress Cherie Lim's birthday

Yummy factor: What we would give to be dipping the shabu shabu slices and fresh fish into the heartwarming broth and spicy mala soup. And let’s not forget the pig brain.

Shane Pow and Kimberly Wang

What they ate: Pre-flight brekkie

Yummy factor: The lovebirds had their mandatory pre-flight breakfast together just before Kimberly flew off to LA for work (and Loyang Avenue for Shane), and this time they had bak chor mee. Maybe it’s just us, but a solid bowl of minced pork noodles with a generous spoonful of vinegar and chilli is always at the top of our must-eat list whenever we leave for another country, or return from an overseas trip.

What they ate: Durian

Yummy factor: The cast of Crazy Rich Asians went alfresco and sat on the ground to catch up over yummy durian - how unlike their OTT roles in the movie!

Rosalyn Lee

What she drank: Rasam cocktail

Yummy factor: Rosalyn took her first sip of a rasam-flavoured cocktail at Nadodi in Kuala Lumpur. And according to the adventurous foodie, the unusual beverage is more of an “oddtail” - it reminds one of porridge. Well, it’s probably an acquired taste.

Seraph Sun

Seraph Sun

What she ate: Cake in a cone at Uki-uki Cafe in Tokyo

Yummy factor: Because her cake was served in an ice-cream cone, Seraph got creative by eating it with a pair of chopsticks and a spoon - all because she wanted to avoid creating a mess. Nonetheless, her dessert looks super yummy (and Instagrammable) - especially with the surprise ice-cream centre and banana-flavoured macaron!

Elvin Ng

What he ate: Sri Lankan crabs

Yummy factor: Elvin loves Sri Lankan crabs cooked in white pepper, dried curry and chilli, and we must say that the crab dish he had at Peony Jade looks really shiok with its fiery looking sauce! Who else is eyeing the juicy pincer?

What they ate: Izy Fook

Yummy factor: The trio had delectably-charred char siew, roast pork, steamed chilli clams, and more over a three-hour-long meal at Sonia’s resto - the clams were apparently so delish that Rozz asked for seconds.

Chen Xiu Huan and Pan Ling Ling

What she ate: Porridge

Yummy factor: Chen Xiu Huan and Pan Ling Ling paid a visit to Chew Chor Meng’s porridge stall to show their support, and were duly rewarded with a piping hot bowl of smooth congee garnished with plenty of fried scallions and chopped green onions. Of course, no porridge is complete without a fat and crispy you tiao, and having deep-fried silver fish on the side is definitely a bonus.

Yummy factor: Enlai picked up a double-scoop gelato in Florence and we can’t help but think it’s a good call - especially with the current warm weather in Italy!
