What the stars ate this week

This week, Christopher Lee celebrated his birthday with a golf-themed cake as a surprise from wifey Fann Wong, Kimberly Wang and Shane Pow had a fab date at Sentosa, and Sharon Au got to eat her fill of Nyonya dumplings back in Singapore. Meanwhile, Michelle Chia and Apple Hong literally had a sweet catch-up in France, and little Alexa had her first taste of chicken curry puffs made by mummy Yvonne Lim, of course.

What they ate: Birthday meal

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Chris! The charming 48-year-old celebrated his birthday (Jul 23) with a party at Crystal Jade, and we absolutely love his golf-themed cake. It came complete with an adorable buggy and oversized golf ball, as well as a realistic golf course.

The Muttons

What they ate: Milkshakes at Capitol Milk Bar

Yummy factor: The Muttons got to try out milkshakes inspired by local flavours and boy did they look absolutely delicious. Vernon A’s Milo dinosaur milkshake came topped with whipped cream, Milo powder and rainbow sprinkles, while Justin Ang’s chendol milkshake featured real chendol jelly and shredded coconut - we can’t decide which sounds more sinful!

Yvonne Lim

What she ate: Chicken curry puffs and mee hoon soto

Yummy factor: Yvonne was craving mee hoon soto and chicken curry puffs, so she decided to make her own golden-brown ones in Taiwan. Safe to say, the yummy-looking snacks were polished off in a jiffy, and lil Alexa got to taste the local treat for the very first time. She liked it so much she refused to let go of it after one bite.

Lawrence Wong

What he ate: Bubble tea soft serve from Heytea

Yummy factor: Aside from a cup of Ovaltine-flavoured boba tea (imagine all that malty goodness), Lawrence also managed to wolf down a bubble tea soft serve that came embedded with lots of chewy pearls. We can't imagine the sugar rush after these treats.

What she ate: Nyonya dumplings

Yummy factor: Sharon’s back in Singapore for a short break, and got to satisfy her craving for zong zi thanks to a very sweet aunt who whipped up a bunch specially for her. Well, as delicious as French cheeses, baguettes and wines can be, nothing beats the taste of home.

Kayly Loh

What she drank: CrazyShake at Black Tap

Yummy factor: We fear for Kayly's waistline and lungs just looking at her trying to inhale the thick llama-looking (now we cannot unsee!) milkshake. Perhaps they should consider switching to bubble tea straws instead?

What they ate: Tea at Ladurée

Yummy factor: Apple and Michelle, who are in Europe for a retreat, hung out at Ladurée over mugs of hot chocolate and pastries (we can't take our eyes off that pretty Fraisier) - talk about an ideal afternoon tea setting.

What she ate: Curry bomb which she gently and carefully opened like it's a surgery

Yummy factor: Talk about a heavy breakfast - Hazelle indulged in a curry bomb from Neo Garden Catering. We love the idea of having warm curry chicken encased within freshly baked bread - it's perfect for dipping.

Ann Kok

What she ate: Durian

Yummy factor: ‘Tis the season for all things durian, and Ann has hopped on the bandwagon with her own box of the creamy fruit. And judging by the fleshiness and rich yellow hue of the seeds, as well as her satisfied expression, it sure looks like Ann was in for a real treat.

What she ate: Prawn mee

Yummy factor: Check out the jumbo prawns in Ferlyn’s meal from the famous Beach Road Prawn Mee! But as good as it was, Ferlyn probably had to cleanse her palate with a cup of refreshing froyo (drizzled with chocolate sauce, no less).

Tosh Zhang

What he ate: Japanese food in Hong Kong

Yummy factor: After all the dim sum and claypot dishes, Tosh decided to take a break from Cantonese cuisine and indulged in some Japanese nosh including what looks like a generous bowl of fried rice, tempura and succulent crab claw.

Nat Ho

What he ate: Ice cream

Yummy factor: It’s International Ice Cream Day every third Sunday of July in the United States, and naturally Nat, who is now based in Los Angeles, had to celebrate with one. But we can’t help but wonder... was his ice cream keto-friendly?

Lin Peifen

What she ate: Dinosaur malty float

Yummy factor: Peifen had a dinosaur malty float from Burger King and it looks like the stuff our childhood dreams were made of - it even came with a sachet of Milo powder to pour over the sinful beverage.

What she ate: Salted egg yolk chicken

Yummy factor: Can anyone resist deep-fried and juicy chicken smothered in salted egg yolk seasoning? Finish it off with a savoury biscuit that's crisp on the outside and fluffy inside and we're sold like Yasminne, who had hers courtesy of Texas Chicken.

Yummy factor: Oishii... Carla had the best of what Kyoto had to offer - legit sake, burnt miso ramen (it's a thing, and apparently really delicious and wok hei-laden), and succulent beef sushi with a touch of spicy wasabi.

Chua Enlai

What he ate: Truffle chips

Yummy factor: Enlai had to get his hands on a bag of aromatic truffle-flavoured chips from Giulano Tartufi in Italy, and we bet they must have been really addictive, considering real truffles were used for its flavouring.

What they ate: Lots of desserts

Yummy factor: Felicia and Jeffrey attended Kim Lim’s birthday bash, and the socialite had at least seven birthday cakes prepped for the party. From an OTT tiara for decoration to fresh flowers and colourful lollies, we bet the stars were spoilt for choice when it came to choosing their sin!
