What the stars ate this week

This week, Rui En had a hearty American brekkie in New York, Justin Ang, who is also in the Big Apple, had an awesome Cheetos burger (we want!), and Michelle Chia polished off a giant soufflé that was bigger than her face in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Dasmond Koh attended Xu Bin's adorable son's first birthday party and Darryl Yong drank from an edible cup.

Michelle Chia

What she ate: Pork knuckle in vinegar and a giant souffle

Yummy factor: The Cantonese in Michelle couldn’t resist tucking into a sinful bowl of tender pork knuckle in vinegar when she chanced upon some from a food truck in Hong Kong. Well, at least it was probably full of skin-loving collagen! Also, check out the giant, fluffy soufflé she had at Tai Ping Loon restaurant - it's bigger than her face!

What she ate: American brekkie in New York

Yummy factor: Rui En's hearty meal featuring crisp toast with butter and jam, fried bacon strips, sunny-side-ups, and more, sure looks like a breakfast of champions. No better way to kick-start the day when you're on vacay.

What he ate: Cheetos chicken burger

Yummy factor: So the Muttons are currently in New York, and Justin got his hands on a Cheetos chicken burger from Kentucky Fried Chicken - how awesome does that sound? The burger comes stuffed with actual Cheetos bits sandwiched in it. Time to step up your game, KFC Singapore!

What he ate: Smørrebrød

Yummy factor: Heading to Denmark? Pornsak highly recommends having a Smørrebrød - a Danish open-faced sandwich that usually features toppings on slices of rye bread spread with lard. The version he had was piled high with generous layers of spicy Norwegian tuna, avocado and caramelised beetroot - talk about a healthy yet delish meal.

What they ate: Birthday cake

Yummy factor: Dasmond attended one-year-old Ethan’s birthday celebration, and we can’t decide which was sweeter - the cakes and desserts inspired by hot air balloons or his heartfelt words! We must say that the three-tiered birthday cake in gradient blue hues and fondant decorations looks absolutely tempting though.

Yasminne Cheng

What she ate: Nordic cuisine at Singapore's most expensive restaurant, Zen

Yummy factor: Yaz loves her fine dining and we love to live vicariously through the foodie. Despite claiming she needs to diet after her Peruvian vacay, she booked herself for a super indulgent and high SES meal that included Zen's signature "French toast" (check out the truffle!), rice with uni and kinmedai, a sublime dessert of sea buckthorne sorbet, and lots of wine. Definitely the best way to welcome the weekend!

What she ate: Neba Neba Soba at Ichiban Boshi

Yummy factor: Interestingly, “Neba Neba Soba” literally translates to “Slimy Slimy Soba”, and Ferlyn shared that the dish, which features natto (fermented soybeans) and lady's finger, has an acquired taste. Nonetheless, she loves how it's filled with digestive enzymes, thanks to the natto! Psst.. Add wasabi, soy sauce and chilli pepper if you'd prefer a stronger flavour like Ferlyn.
