What the stars ate this week

This week, Zheng Geping got to spend time with both his real and reel life daughters (hello, Zhou Ying!) in Shanghai, Zed Zed couldn't help but give two thumbs up after his teppanyaki meal, Hazelle Teo made her own muah chee, albeit a little too violently, and Shane Pow got to satisfy his Indian food cravings. Plus, check out the adorable teddy bear-shaped cookies Tracy Lee whipped up for her son.

What they ate: Lavish dinner at Level 33

Yummy factor: Ever the sweetest girlfriend, Hong Ling made sure to make Nick's 30th birthday a memorable affair. Dinner was an extravagant affair at Level 33, where they indulged in a most interesting looking menu featuring caviar chawanmushi, sashimi, lobster, squid noodles and more. Of course, they had to conclude the night with a decadent chocolate birthday tart!

What they ate: Taiwanese cuisine including braised beef noodles at The Line at Shangri-La Hotel

Yummy factor: Apparently, the beef slices were so tender and yummy that Avery and Andie couldn't help but steal some from their parents’ bowls with their lil bare hands! Pro tip: When you are done, add rice to the soup to get "pao fan".

Shane Pow

What he ate: Thosai, chapati and more at his favourite stall, Azmi restaurant

Yummy factor: Shane woke up bright and early to have his favourite Indian foods for breakfast with girlfriend, 987 DJ Kimberly Wang, and we’re really curious as to whether he actually managed to finish the fluffy chapati, thosai and all the rich side dishes in front of him! Well, one thing’s for sure - Shane’s a very happy man.

Rosalyn Lee

What she ate: Truffle tamago

Yummy factor: Rozz is quite particular about her food, so for her to get excited about a dish is quite a feat. The dish in question this time is an exquisite egg-based dish she had in Sydney - it comes topped with fine truffle shavings - must’ve been the bomb (and cost just as much).

What they ate: Starter of salad

Yummy factor: Zheng Geping got to spend time with his reel and real life daughters, along with his wife Hong Huifang, when he was in Shanghai. Anyone else thinks their salad sharing bowl looks exceptionally colourful and appetising?

What she ate: Muah chee from Fortune Food

Yummy factor: Hazelle has always wanted to try making her own muah chee, and she finally managed to create her own plate of gooey goodness during the YES933 family meeting, albeit rather "violently", stretching the glutinous rice dough like it was slime. We love how she piled on the icing sugar and crushed peanuts.

What she ate: Lobster rolls from Luke's Lobster in New York

Yummy factor: When dinner plans are a little late, the next best thing to do is to indulge in mini lobster, prawn and crab rolls, of course! Sandwiched between pillow-soft buns, the seafood fillings look super shiok to munch on.

What he ate: Watermelon ice-cream

Yummy factor: Fancy having refreshing watermelon ice-cream served in a thick slice of watermelon? Well, that’s what Justin had in Los Angeles and we couldn't be more envious, what with the scorching heat in Singapore these days.

What she ate: Homecooked feast

Yummy factor: Not only is Yvonne a great actress, she’s adept at baking and cooking too. From prawns to chicken wings and fried rice, Yvonne certainly didn’t hold back, and we’re pretty sure her family was in for a treat. P.S.: How does anyone look this good after spending so much time in a hot kitchen?

Zheng Geping

What he ate: Hearty brekkie

Yummy factor: Geping’s choice of breakfast proves that healthy nosh doesn’t have to taste bad - think fresh bananas, sunny-side-ups and a generous serving of ham with black coffee on the side. Is that the secret to maintaining your physique, Geping?

Pornsak

What he ate: Tom yum pork noodle soup

Yummy factor: Whenever Pornsak is back home in Bangkok, he's sure to indulge in Thai desserts and a piping hot bowl of tom yum pork noodles from his favourite stall. Apparently one has to queue for 45 minutes on a weekday, and two hours during weekends. But it's not hard to see why - they are generous with the fluffy minced pork and ingredients. Add a piece of crispy wanton skin and you're all set for foodie heaven.

Tong Bingyu

What she ate: Fancy seafood at a chi chi luncheon

Yummy factor: We spy portions of succulent fish and prawns on Bingyu’s plate, paired with chilled champagne and cognac. We hope she was served some delish carbs after though, because it doesn't look like it'd be enough to satiate her hunger!

Yasminne Cheng

What she DIDN'T eat: Roasted guinea pig, or cuy, in Peru

Yummy factor: Those guinea pigs looked so cute (pre-cooked, of course), Yasminne couldn’t bear to eat the Peruvian delicacy. You should have, Yaz! These little guys, with their crispy skin, taste just like suckling pig.

What she ate: Peaches

Yummy factor: According to Xiu Huan, these Taiwanese peaches are her favourite, and we think we know why. There’s just something about these fruits’ beautiful red hue and plumpness that make us think they must be really juicy and sweet.
