What the stars ate this week

This week, family (real and reel) took centre stage for Jayley Woo, Jeanette Aw, Patricia Mok and Cynthia Koh, who managed to find time to dine with their nearest and dearest. Meanwhile, Tanya Chua indulged in a local favourite, Kym Ng got to test Qi Yuwu’s culinary skills, and Rosalyn Lee headed straight for… well, click through to find out!

What they ate: Japanese food including yakitori and loads of sake

Yummy factor: The Mo siblings sure looked like they had a great time catching up and also a bit too much to drink (Andrew Lua's words, not ours!). Look how flushed they look!

Tanya Chua

What she ate: Bak kut teh

Yummy factor: Surprise! Tanya’s back in Singapore for a bit, and one of the first local delights she went straight for was bak kut teh, complete with generous servings of mei cai, you tiao and braised pig trotters. We would too — after all, who knows when she’ll be able to have it again?

Desmond Tan

What he ate: Meatball grain bowl

Yummy factor: Desmond loaded up on protein and clean carbs at Shane Pow’s F&B venture, Mojo, and joked that his grain bowl would have tasted even better if Shane was there in person to cook for him. We have to say that those meatballs look pretty juicy, though!

Jayley Woo

What she ate: Risotto at EagleWings Loft

Yummy factor: We love a girl who doesn’t shy away from her carbs! Jayley went out on a dinner date with her father, who probably snapped this candid photo of her before they tucked into their meal.

Kym Ng and Qi Yuwu

What they ate: What looks like mee goreng and sayur lodeh

Yummy factor: So ah gong and ah ma can cook, but can Qi Yuwu? Very well, in fact. And Yuwu took up the challenge of cooking with his elderly partner in the variety show hosted by Kym Ng, and it looks like they managed to whip up curry vegetables, mee goreng and more. Will wifey Joanne give him a thumbs up?

What they ate: Japanese food at Wasabi Tei

Yummy factor: It’s rare that the entire family gets to head out for a nice meal, so when they do, they make sure they dine at an all-time fave. Edmund shared that his family often visits this old-school Japanese restaurant at Far East Plaza for a couple of reasons — good atmosphere, fresh ingredients and great owner.

Maxi Lim

What he ate: Birthday cake

Yummy factor: It’s only fitting that Maxi’s surprise cake for his 32nd birthday (Mar 12) features his most-used hashtag, #EatBro. Well, his fellow cast members from Ch 5 drama KIN sure know him well!

What they ate: Unconventionally-sliced kiwi

Yummy factor: It all began with a fruit. Kim couldn’t quite get how Shane managed to slice his kiwi in such an unconventional way, and the couple took to Instagram to ask their followers if his method is actually acceptable. And as it turns out, Kim found out that Shane isn’t alone!

Rosalyn Lee

What she ate: Smoked pigeon head

Yummy factor: Rozz has always been known to be the adventurous sort, so it should come as no surprise that she's game to munch on a pigeon head (smoked with tea and chrysanthemum, no less) in Hong Kong. And as Rozz would put it, “don't knock it till you've tried it”.

Oon Shu An

What she ate: Fresh fig

Yummy factor: So.. Shu An was happily munching on her fresh fig and sending out a friendly PSA to her followers to load up on fruits when a friend reminded her via DM that there’s a dead wasp in every fig. #TrueStory, but it doesn't make the “fruit” any less juicy.

Pierre Png

What he ate: Prawn noodles and ngoh hiang

Yummy factor: Who cares if it’s a hot day out if you’ve got an appetite-whetting bowl of prawn mee in front of you for breakfast? Plus, no one says no to a towering plate of freshly-fried ngoh hiang. Someone tell us how Pierre maintains his abs?

Belinda Lee

What she ate: Cheesy Brazilian bread

Yummy factor: Belinda’s enthusiasm about these cheesy Brazilian breads from popular brunch spot Wild Honey is highly infectious. They come topped with a sprinkling of sea salt, and she couldn't stop gushing about them because they're really chewy and go so well with an extra hot cup of cappuccino.

Yummy factor: In this week’s edition of #FattyPornPorn, Pornsak teased his followers with a droolworthy mukbang (“eating broadcast”) of him tucking into a creamy portion of burrata cheese served with parma ham, mortadella and arugula leaves. Gosh does that look tempting!

What they ate: Cheesy Korean BBQ

Yummy factor: We would be grinning from ear to ear too, if we were about to have our fill of cheesy, stringy goodness atop a sizzling Korean BBQ like Kewei and Nicole! Can’t think of a more delicious way to combat the chilly weather in Korea.

Jeanette Aw

What she ate: Now that she's mastered French pastries, Jeanette's trying her hand at making curry puffs "because I like to eat them".

Yummy factor: "I think ours taste pretty amazing, from the dough to the filling and I’m not being bias I swear!" adding that she stuffs them with as much filling as she can. Delish and overstuffed curry puffs? They don't get better than that!

Zoe Tay

What she ate: Potato ramen

Yummy factor: Ah Jie’s regular ski trips to Hokkaido are usually a time for her to indulge in the best of local delights. Amongst the various delish meals she had this time was potato ramen, which looked deceptively simple but must have packed a punch in terms of flavour.

What they ate: Hot pot and birthday cake

Yummy factor: Gal pals Denise and Hazelle -- missing Kayly Loh -- celebrated Tay Ying’s birthday in advance over steaming hot yuan yang steamboat, lots of ingredients and catch-up conversations. Of course, the girls prepared a cake for her too. Happy 23rd in advance, Tay Ying!

What she ate: Crispy fried chicken

Yummy factor: While Sharon probably can’t get her hands on McDonald’s Singapore new Crispy Chicken offering, at least she managed to get a taste of home thanks to her packet of crispy fried chicken seasoning -- check out that glorious golden-brown chunk of meat.

What he ate: Bento box

Yummy factor: Why have one when you can have three? Zijie was on to his third box of cai fan (for real?) during his meal break and was still going strong. If anything, he makes an ordinary meal looks delicious.

What he ate: Owl cupcake

Yummy factor: How cute is that fondant owl topping on Terence’s cupcake, made by Chef Ryan Loh? Safe to say, it was gone in a couple of mouthfuls, icing and all. And as a parting shot, we can only imagine his response to the sweet treat -- “Owl have one!”

What they ate: Prime rib at Lawry’s

Yummy factor: Xiang Yun and Yixin managed to spend some quality mother-daughter time over an exquisite meal at Lawry’s, where Yixin polished off almost everything on her plate. She was either really hungry, or the food was really delish. We'd like to think it's both.

What they ate: Brunch at The Marmalade Pantry

Yummy factor: A family that brunches together stays together, and isn't it adorable how little Lukey is getting adventurous with his food choices? Well, not that it's hard to develop a liking for bacon or sweet potato fries.
