What the stars ate this week

It’s been either really hot or cold this week for the stars. Zhang Zetong had a smokin’ cool candy, whilst Carrie Wong, despite the cold weather in Hengdian, treated herself to a large bingsu. And on the other end of the spectrum, Rosalyn Lee tried a vegetarian laksa for the first time, and Rui En, Felicia Chin, Chantalle Ng put their spice levels to the test with super hot buffalo wings. As for Jack Neo, it’s been a real sweet time celebrating his 29th wedding anniversary!

What she ate: Hot wings

Yummy factor: The Old is Gold co-stars headed out for really spicy buffalo wings at Valle Bar Cafe, and Felicia managed to down the spiciest level and emerge unscathed. Rui En and Chantalle had a go as well, but spice wuss Edwin unfortunately didn't quite dare take up the challenge.

What she ate: Eng’s wanton noodle

Yummy factor: Fiona had Eng’s wanton mee and tried their notoriously-fiery chilli sauce for the first time, and declared it "Shiok!". In fact, she liked it so much she added an entire soup spoon full of it.

What they ate: Buns which they learned how to make from scratch for upcoming drama All Around You.

Yummy factor: Are those pandan buns? We're not sure what happened but the pair erupted in laughter as soon as they saw how the buns turned out. "The result is not what we expected hahaha!" wrote Herman on Instagram. While we think they look pretty good from here, the Star Search 2019 runner-up warned that "whether it's edible is another matter".

Alfred Sim

What he ate: "Meatless" meal

Yummy factor: Alfred got creative in the kitchen and whipped up a feast -- eggplant lasagna, a colourful vegetarian pizza, which consisted of tomatoes, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, capsicum and onions, Thai-style deep fried white button mushrooms, and rosemary roasted potatoes. The lasagna was his first attempt, and wifey Kewei Tay loved how the eggplant turned out to be really crunchy.

What she ate: Bingsu

Yummy factor: It may be cold in Hengdian, China, but that hasn't stopped Carrie from indulging in icy treats. The actress, who is there to film upcoming Ch 8 drama A Quest to Heal, had a bowl of mango bingsu that was bigger than her own face -- we love how generous they were with the mango cubes and whipped cream.

Qi Yuwu

What he ate: Hotpot in Hengdian

Yummy factor: It’s been awhile since Yuwu did a foodie post.. And does his hotpot soup base look amazing or what? It’s filled with nourishing ingredients like chicken meat, red dates, mushrooms and more in what looks like a milky collagen-rich broth cooked in a unique stone pot and rattan contraption. Must have been comforting in Hengdian's cold weather.

What he ate: Unique bubble tea

Yummy factor: Shaun may be in Perth, but that hasn't stopped him from getting his fill of bubble tea from King Tea. We don't know about you, but mango pomelo sago in bubble tea sure sounds sinful.

Eelyn Kok

What she ate: Zhng-ed longevity buns

Yummy factor: Interestingly, Eelyn was drawn to the edible gold dust used to decorate a plate of longevity buns, and promptly used it as an eyeshadow on her own eyelids for an instant party-ready look! Creative, but we don't know how we feel about applying food on our faces.

What he ate: Mango sticky rice "cake"

Yummy factor: Cakes may be yummy, but having a still-warm plate of homemade mango sticky rice is way better! We’re loving Enlai’s birthday cake substitute, which came with a generous serving of ripened mango and savoury coconut milk.

Michelle Wong

What she had: Mocha and quinoa brown rice bowl

Yummy factor: An iced mocha at 9pm may not have been the best idea, but Michelle surely made up for her “bad” decision with a hearty and healthy meal the next day - quinoa with brown rice, shiitake mushrooms and kale in a sizzling stone bowl at Elemen. The best bits are the slightly charred rice at the bottom.

What he ate: Indian delights

Yummy factor: Meeting a buddy for boneless mutton biryani (check out that rich gravy and mountain of basmati rice) and crisp papadum sounds like the perfect dinner plan, and Pornsak clearly enjoyed his meal very much. Plus, those tandoori mushrooms look like they are to-die-for with the refreshing mint yoghurt sauce.
