What the stars ate this week

If you haven't seen your busy friends for a while, remember that there is nothing like good food to lure them out for a gathering - as demonstrated by Elvin Ng, Chen Xiu Huan, Rebecca Lim, Christopher Lee, Ian Fang, with other stars. This week we also salivated over Carrie Wong's Korean fried chicken and beer and a painting of a giant croissant by Tanya Chua's friend. Joanne Peh gave us bento envy with her healthy packed lunch, while Fann Wong and Christopher Lee had a mid-day pick-me-up in the form of bubble tea.

Fann Wong and Christopher Lee

What they ate: Bubble tea and cakes

Yummy factor: We are super jealous, especially looking at how elated they are, but TGIF! As soon as the weekend starts, we are on our way to getting our bubble tea fix (alas, by queuing up, unlike Fann and Chris here).

What she ate: A cake that she baked at Le Cordon Bleu Duset Culinary School and Thai food on a separate occasion

Yummy factor: We're making heart-eyes at that beautiful bake with its pillowy topping and almond slivers. Something almost as enticing? The impossibly fluffy Thai omelette with its whispy egg layers.

What she ate: Golden eggs at Mark Lee's 50th birthday bash

Yummy factor: Have to give Huang Biren props for creativity, doubling these golden eggs as face rollers. Looks pretty effective, too!

What she ate: We count five real desserts here.

Yummy factor: That croissant is a painting by one of Tanya's friends. If only it could be replicated in real life.

What she ate: Fried chicken and beer in Korea

Yummy factor: "5 bucks of happiness," Carrie wrote. We're all for the convenient 2-in-1 packaging.

Elvin Ng

What he ate: Cakes, party food and wine at a celeb gathering including Rebecca Lim, Christopher Lee, Romeo Tan, Chen Xiu Huan, Vincent Ng, and Zheng Ge Ping

Yummy factor: "I grew up watching them on TV, and there’s a lot to learn listening to the stories they share," Elvin wrote. "Friendships are hard to find, and that makes times like these all the more precious. And life, always calls for a celebration." This is one dinner party worth crashing.

You Yi

What she ate: You Yi couldn't stop laughing when Wallace Ang presented her with this Shar Pei cake.

Yummy factor: She laughed but we feel it would be pretty disturbing cutting this pup's head off. How life-like are the cute wrinkles?

Joanne Peh

What she ate: Baked chicken with veggies and a side of black rice as well as a bento for Heart to Heart co-star Zhang Yaodong on a separate occasion

Yummy factor: Joanne said she started packing her own lunch to work a couple of months ago because she wanted to see if eating clean would make difference to her health. And seems like it is not just the environment but Yaodong too has been benefiting from this green effort. Don't you just love a friend who loves feeding you?

What she ate: Sushi roll and water cake at Hiryu

Yummy factor: Refined Japanese dining for an instant mood lift on a work day - not a bad idea.  We're just curious how the water cake tasted, if that's what it is. The matcha powder addition is interesting.

What she ate: What looks like a black swan dim sum

Yummy factor: How elegant is this? If only one could turn into a beautiful swan after eating it.

What she ate: Ice cream

Yummy factor: Frankly, anything less than two scoops takes the joy out of indulging in ice cream. Plus, when you spend too much time deciding between flavours, why stop at one?

What she ate: Her birthday cake to celebrate turning 47

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Pat! Three things we appreciate about this cake: 1) It's chocolate, duh. 2) Only one candle, nice and simple. 3) It's square shaped, which makes it so much easier to cut. That's coming from the boring practical side of us.

Yummy factor: S.O.S. from our noses, which wrinkled involuntarily at the mere sight of these durians.

What they ate: Ice cream and something with tons of sauce at Clancy's Fish Pub Dunsborough in Australia

Yummy factor: Avery was eyeing her chocolate popsicle like gold, while Aden looked none too pleased with his melting ice cream. What cute messy eaters the Chen siblings are.

Jean Danker and Glenn Ong

What they ate: A meal at Publico after Glenn finished his Spartan race

Yummy factor: If it was us who had finished a Spartan race, we would have ordered a lot more food and stuffed out faces. Guess Glenn's not the exercise-to-eat type.

What she ate: Her birthday cake and longevity buns with Chen Xiu Huan to celebrate turning 52

Yummy factor: This is one of the most atas longevity buns set-ups we have seen. Nevermind the mist - check out how each bun sits in its own basket dangling from the tree.

Bonnie Loo

Bonnie Loo

What she ate: Loads of succulent meat followed by cake

Yummy factor: Our eyes zoomed in to the glistening chunk of pork enroute to Bonnie's mouth. Such savoury goodness is best capped off with a moist slice of cake.

Nick Teo

What he drank: Matcha Frappuccino

Yummy factor: Espresso-gulping, triple shot folks might roll our eyes at syrup-infused, barely-there-caffeine Frappes. Don't mind us coffee snobs. But also, we're secretly jealous that you look all perky when you order your drink for its taste - not out of necessity to stay awake.

Chew Chor Meng

What he ate: What else but porridge (zhou) at The Famous Zhou?

Yummy factor: When it comes to porridge, the consistency is key. This seems to strike the right "velvety" thickness. Simple yet delicious, even better when paired with a side of Century Egg Tofu.

Kelly Poon

What she drank: Cheese foam green tea in Taipei

Yummy factor: Cheese foam mustache anyone? Don't be fooled by Kelly's sweet smile - she was actually trying to endure the bitterness of this tea. It was her first time ordering it without sugar.

What he ate: Egg sandwiches from Egg Stop

Yummy factor: Tasty, but is spending money on fancy egg sandwiches the equivalent of paying for overpriced avocado toast? Hmm...

Chris Lee

Chris Lee

What he ate: Way too much food. Just kidding - nothing wrong with indulging in a fulfilling spread including an omelette, pizza, curry, and rice, followed by mala-style skewers

Yummy factor: "Crazy Rich Asians? Crazy Hungry Asians!" Chris captioned. Yes, he would appear to be one indeed.

Ferlyn G

What she ate: Pastry and coffee before her flight to Jeju

Yummy factor: Anyone else always grab a nice cuppa before boarding? No offense to airplane coffee, but served in nearly thimble-sized cups, they don't quite satisfy the caffeine junkies in us.
