What the stars ate this week

This week, both Pierre Png and Xiang Yun's fam bam made sure they had their fill of cake for their birthdays, Nick Teo just couldn't master the art of egg-cracking in a Korean sauna (at Hong Ling's expense!), Mark Lee showed off his cooking skills, and check out the 23-course meal Joanne Peh and Jeff Chou had in Taiwan!

Alfred Sim

What he ate: Portobello mushroom sandwich

Yummy factor: Alfred and his wifey Tay Kewei made their own meatless sandwiches that looked oh-so-delicious. Think “ultra juicy” oven-baked portobello mushroom patties covered in breadcrumbs and soy batter, with a little bit of sesame oil. Coupled with veggies, wholemeal bread and a generous squirt of mayo and relish, it's one filling meal alright!

What they ate: Decadent sushi

Yummy factor: Enough of kid- friendly meals in Taipei... Joanne and Jeff had a 23-course omakase dinner with Patricia Mok and celeb stylist Martin Wong, and they indulged in fancy bites like (huge) totoro and uni sushi - imagine the creaminess and burst of flavours!

Pierre Png

What he ate: Birthday cakes

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Pierre! He got to take some time off to celebrate his special day with his loved ones and wifey Andrea de Cruz. Also, we're loving the OTT sparkler candles atop his cakes - will they unintentionally create a caramelised topmost layer?

What she ate: Juicy burgers from Shake Shack

Yummy factor: Let's face it -- anything will taste better when you don't have to spend an hour queuing for it. Here's photographic evidence of Florence enjoying her ‘Shroom burger with a side of fries at Shake Shack Hong Kong!

Mark Lee

What he ate: Fried rice

Yummy factor: Mark got busy in the kitchen to prepare dinner for his family, and they absolutely loved his fried rice (with plenty of ingredients!). It's probably no surprise though - Mark seems experienced with frying and handling the pan.

What they ate: Birthday cakes

Yummy factor: Happy birthday, Xiangyun jie! Hubby Edmund Chen as well as her two kids, Yixi and Yixin, spent an entire day with the birthday girl, making sure she had the best time ever on her special day (Oct 27). Of course, that had to involve lots of cake! We're loving the thick slice of walnut carrot cake and cutesy rainbow confection they picked out!

Jeffrey Xu

What he ate: Homemade pork rib meepok

Yummy factor: Jeffrey was lucky enough to tuck into some homemade, dry and soup meepok (yes, he had two bowls!) at his friend's place, and it sure looked legit.

Hong Ling

What she ate: Hard-boiled eggs

Yummy factor: Both Hong Ling and Nick Teo visited a Jjimjilbang (Korean sauna) whilst in Seoul, and boy did Hong Ling have a good time laughing (and wincing!) at Nick’s failed attempts at cracking his egg. In the end, she took matters into her own hands and showed him how it's done. Ouch!

Chen Xiuhuan

What she ate: Abalone

Yummy factor: Chen Xiuhuan definitely looks pleased with her generously-sized whole abalone from Old Street Bak Kut Teh -- it's half the size of her face! We're surprised she managed to lift up the meaty piece with her chopsticks.

Patricia Mok

What she ate: Dan tzai noodles

Yummy factor: Patricia visited Taiwan’s famous Du Hsiao Yueh noodle chain in Hong Kong, and promptly slurped up a bowl of their signature dan tzai noodles, featuring springy noodles cooked in a savoury shrimp broth and topped with meat sauce and garlic. Yums!

What she ate: Seafood rice bowl

Yummy factor: Chock full of fresh greens, carrots, and sautéed mushrooms, doesn't Ah Jie’s seafood rice bowl from Atmosphere Bistro look like it'd make a delish yet clean lunch? The highlight of the fish has to be the grilled prawns though.. They look like they'd go pretty well with the chilli sauce.

Sheila Sim

What she ate: Mulberry fruit

Yummy factor: Could that be a piece of dried mulberry that Sheila is holding on to? While it resembles something much less appetising, dried mulberries are full of antioxidants and goodness! And the best part? These are grown by her hubby.

Sharon Au

What she ate: French desserts

Yummy factor: Sharon indulged her sweet tooth Pierre Herme in Paris with her girl pal Amilus Chou, where they had signatures like the Croissant Isaphan (decorated with candied rose petal bits!) and Mont Blanc Hommage, which featured pear compote and chestnut chantilly cream.

What he ate: Pasta at PS Cafe

Yummy factor: Darryl was having a keto cheat day and he treated himself to what looks like Chicken Rossa Penne. Great choice! Hope he had some dessert too.

Yummy factor: Both Zoe and Jaime attended the same Halloween event with their kiddos, and ended up treating themselves to some ghoulish candy and cake pops as well -- how cute!

Paige Chua

What she ate: Wedding banquet

Yummy factor: Although Paige isn't the most active on social media, she posted a photo of herself alongside Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu at Belinda Lee’s warm and intimate wedding dinner (yes, if you haven't heard by now, Belinda’s officially off the market).

Jade Seah

What she ate: Japanese set lunch

Yummy factor: Despite knowing for a fact that she won't be able to finish her meal, Jade went ahead to order lots for her lunch (her second one for the day, mind you) anyway. To be honest though, we'd be tempted by that plate of perfectly-fried ebi tempura too.

Nick Teo

Nick Teo

What he ate: Chimaek

Yummy factor: No trip to Korea is complete without a chimaek meal like Nick’s. For the uninitiated, chimaek is a Korean slang for the pairing of fried chicken and beer, a classic combination in the country.

Jesseca Liu and Dawn Yeoh

What she ate: Cocktails and cake

Yummy factor: No, this wasn't an animal-themed Halloween party but a scene for their new drama Loving You, though we think Jesseca, Dawn, and the rest of the cast could have had an impromptu celebration when they wrapped for the day. Don't let that yummy looking cake go to waste, right?
