What the stars ate this week

This week, JJ Lin tried making his own goubuli steamed buns (and failed), Rosalyn Lee had a taste of what looks like a giant purple tortilla, and Denise Camillia Tan ended up with a dark lippie thanks to her squid ink pasta. Meanwhile, Jayley and Hayley Woo enjoyed "super yummy" turkey legs in Universal Studios Japan, and Priscelia Chan and Alan Tern celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.

JJ Lin

What he ate: Goubuli steamed buns

Yummy factor: JJ Lin attempted to whip up his own goubuli baozi in Tianjin, but fared so poorly that his dad told him to stick to singing instead. Well, even though his version of steamed stuffed buns ended up looking like siew mai instead, we applaud him for his effort!

What they ate: Turkey legs and butter beer at Universal Studios Japan

Yummy factor: No visit to USJ is complete without a pint of butter beer and juicy, smokey, "super yummy" turkey legs - one each, of course.

What he ate: Prawn noodles

Yummy factor: Thomas had to get his fix of prawn noodles before heading off overseas for three weeks - and he got his from Ah Sai Pork Rib Prawn Noodles. "Cooked with passion by the boss and family and topped with fresh quality ingredients, I come back here regularly cos the taste lingers on in my mind," wrote Thomas.

What they ate: Tang yuan

Yummy factor: Andie Chen, Kate Pang and their kiddos made glutinous rice balls with natural food colourings at home, and they decided to get creative with the shapes of their tang yuan. There were flowers, sunny-side ups, cubes, and even a poo-shaped one courtesy of Kate. The kids loved the dessert anyway, so all’s good.

What she ate: Squid ink pasta at Pasta Brava

Yummy factor: Denise mused that she had achieved two things after her meal -- a happy tummy and a natural black lippie. We've personally tried the squid ink pasta at Pasta Brava and it's delish. Just don't eat it when you're on a date.

What he ate: SmokeShack Double at Shake Shack

Yummy factor: What do you do when you’re done with your burger that's oozing with goodness? Savour every last bit of its juiciness, of course! Yes, even if it means having to appear unglamorous like Andrew, who was determined to finish up his burger to its last drop - literally.

Rosalyn Lee

What she ate: Corn and what looks like a giant tortilla

Yummy factor: Rozz visited a corn factory and farm in Mexico and certainly had her fill of the yummy vegetable. And in case you’re wondering why the corn she’s holding looks peculiar, that’s how a non-genetically modified corn looks like.

What they ate: Brownie with ice cream

Yummy factor: Topped with fresh strawberries, waffle crisps and a huge scoop of ice cream, the only thing that’s probably sweeter than the luscious rich brownie Priscelia and Alan shared is the fact that they are celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary.

What he ate: Birthday goodies

Yummy factor: Shen Momo’s birthday may be over (he turned two on Sep 27), but the parties certainly aren’t! Tay Kewei and Alfred Sim threw their lil one another party at Kiztopia, and we’re loving the trays of Oreos, macarons, sweets and cakes in front of him - a kiddo’s dream come true! And how cute is Momo's "blowing candle" face.

Ferlyn Wong

What she ate: Hotdog

Yummy factor: This week, Ferlyn got to munch on the juiciest hotdog she has ever had. According to her, the ones from Run Amuk Hotdogs in Perth are bursting with flavour, and comes with legit fries too. Something about that fat sausage stuffed into toasted bread and cheese has us craving for some right now.

What they ate: Meaty platter at Red Eye Smokehouse

Yummy factor: When two buff men meet for a meal, you know it’s going to be a meaty affair. Their huge platter featured a generous assortment of chicken wings, pork ribs, roasted pork belly, thick sausages... the list goes on. Best washed down with a pint of green beer.

Jade Seah

What she ate: Bak chor mee

Yummy factor: Considering how often she travels, it’s no wonder Jade would crave for a good ol’ bowl of minced meat noodles (with a bowl of bouncy fish balls to boot) whenever she’s back home in Singapore. Cut chilli doused in light sauce on the side is a must too, of course.

What she ate: Laksa

Yummy factor: It’s hard to say no to Katong Laksa - especially if you’re in the area like Michelle. And judging by the joy radiating from her, her bowl of laksa must have ticked the right boxes.

Chen Xiuhuan

What she ate: Desserts

Yummy factor: Birthday desserts don’t have to be laden with sugar -- the blueberry crumble Xiuhuan had at Cook & Tras Social Library is gluten, dairy and sugar-free. And check out the creme brulee she ordered - it’s infused with organic cold brew coffee, and it looks as amazing as it sounds.

What she ate: Dog-shaped birthday cake

Yummy factor: Zoe’s son, Nathan, celebrated his 9th birthday with an absolutely adorable cake that looks exactly like their pet dog, affectionately called Fei Niu. Even the pink collar featured on the cake was on point! Guests spotted at the party include Aileen Tan, Jin Yin Ji, Hong Huifang, and Chen Xiuhuan - we wonder if they could bear to take a bite outta their slice of cake?
