What the stars ate this week

The foodie lineup this week sure had us intrigued, from Joanne Peh's oat noodles and Edwin Goh's crocodile meat, to Chen Liping's oversized cotton candy dessert and Jesseca Liu's biscuit challenge. On the celebration front, we saw Fann Wong and Christopher Lee indulging in loads of love and exquisite eats at their wedding anniversary party, while October babies Terence Cao, Shane Pow, and Jeffrey Xu celebrated their birthdays with a Japanese meal and lots of sake. Read on for more!

Jesseca Liu and Tay Ping Hui

What they ate (or at least tried to): Cream crackers

Yummy factor: The Mind’s Eye co-stars took on the biscuit challenge which saw them attempting to stuff a whole cracker into their mouths without breaking it. While Jesseca could barely get half a biscuit in, Ping Hui completed the challenge with ease. Well, we always knew he had a big mouth. Just kidding!

Joanne Peh

What she ate: Oat noodles

Yummy factor: Joanne, who’s in Beijing with hubby Qi Yuwu, liked her chewy handmade oat noodles (you mian) so much that she polished up the whole bowl. Hmmm, we wonder how the you mian rolls are eaten?

Muttons

What they ate: Atas dim sum such as Maine lobster radish cake and abalone with steamed chicken nest bun at Tim Ho Wan's flagship store at Marina Bay Sands.

Yummy factor: The Muttons said the truffle quail egg siew mai, which features truffle shavings and an entire quail egg, is to die for, but it's the abalone bun that's got us drooling. Check out the size of those abalones!

Lee Teng

What he ate: Fried and mala stinky tofu and lu rou fan in Taiwan

Yummy factor: We're no fans of stinky tofu but that mala stinky tofu sounds like a comforting treat on a cool rainy day like today.

What they ate: The October babies met up for a Japanese meal to celebrate their upcoming birthdays

Yummy factor: The spread doesn’t look the most exciting, but you can’t go wrong when you’re with celeb foodie Terence Cao. Plus, sake makes everything better.

Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, and Zed

What they ate: Dinner at 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary

Yummy factor: As expected, Chris did not cook for Fann on their wedding anniversary last Sunday (Sep 29), but he made up for it with a surprise dinner party which included exquisite dishes like “Bak Kut Teh” Pork Chop and Bluefin Tuna Tartare.

Edwin Goh

What he ate: Crocodile meat in Phuket

Yummy factor: The grilled croc looked a little dry but Edwin seemed happy with the meat which tasted “just like pork”.

Chen Yixin

What she ate: Hand-pulled noodles with “an extra zing of facial oil”

Yummy factor: Yixin tried her hand at pulling noodles and swiped herself in the face while at it, hence the “zing of facial oil” and brother Yixi’s snigger. We like the little twirl at the end of the "performance" but we think it’s best to stick to your day job, Yixin.

Chen Liping

What she ate: Mango sticky rice, cotton candy dessert, tom yum noodles, and more in Thailand

Yummy factor: The cotton candy dessert sure is ‘gram-worthy, but judging by the size of Liping’s eyes when she bit into the crab, the giant pot of tom yum noodles was the star of the trip.

Yvonne Lim

What she ate: Birthday cake to celebrate turning 43 last Saturday (Sep 28)

Yummy factor:  We couldn’t help chuckling when Yvonne’s daughter, Alexa, started picking on the meringue shard toppings and eating them mid-birthday song. Kids, they do the darndest things!

Patricia Mok

What she ate: Tendon at Tenjin

Yummy factor: For $22.80, you get a don chock-full of premium ingredients such as prawn, eel, and crab leg tempura. It’s no wonder Pat called this the “best tempura donburi”.

Michelle Wong

What she ate: Fried chicken from 4Fingers

Yummy factor: “Had an early start this morning and fell asleep the moment I got home. Missed dinner and made up for it with fried chicken. How am I gonna sleep tonight?” wrote Michelle on Instagram. Awww, don’t worry, Michelle. With this many pieces of chicken, you will fall into a food coma in no time.

Jacelyn Tay

What he ate: Fried rice for breakfast

Yummy factor: “My usual breakfast is rice. Even nasi lemak or fried rice is better than bread because bread is made from wheat flour which has gluten that may trigger an immune response that damages the lining of the small intestine,” wrote Jacelyn. BRB, tossing out our sandwich for an onigiri instead.

Shen Momo

What he ate: Toy Story-themed treats at his 2nd birthday party

Yummy factor: Awww, the "Momo Story" cake is too cute to eat – and it looks like Tay Kewei and Alfred Sim’s munchkin is just as impressed as we are.

Jaime Teo

Jaime Teo

What she ate: Chocolate cupcake from Twelve Cupcakes

Yummy factor: Jaime had a chocolate cupcake and according to the former Twelve Cupcakes towkay, it “tastes exactly like I remember it” and made her “wanna make a batch of chocolate cream cheese to eat for fun”. That makes the two of us. We are, of course, referring to the eating, not the baking.

What they ate: Chirashi don

Yummy factor: That’s one generous serving of sashimi. We’re licking our lips at the mere sight of the uni and glistening hamachi (sorry, Shane Pow).

Joakim Gomez

Joakim Gomez

What he ate: McDonald’s breakfast

Yummy factor: "Yes, I still order milk at McDonald's. Don't @ me (sic)," said Joakim. We're not sure why the 987 DJ was so defensive about the milk. We’re more bothered by the "post-workout-crazy-please-give-me-my-food" eyes than the milk-pairing.
