Hailing from Osaka, popular pancake cafe Belle Ville offers pancakes that are so light and fluffy, they jiggle when you shake your plate. Here, the pancakes are stacked high in what they call the ‘Millefeuille’ pancake style. Small stacks cost $7.90 while a higher one goes for $11.90. These melt-in-your-mouth creations come with toppings like matcha, apple caramel and strawberries with mixed berries, and if you are feeling indulgent, you can add adzuki red bean, fresh cream, or ice cream for $1.

Tucked in the nondescript Mei Ling Food Centre in Queenstown is SweeT.Rex. Operating out of a cheerful looking pushcart, the lady boss serves puddings, cheesecakes and other desserts that will tempt your sweet tooth. The best part is, nothing is over $5. The Japanese-inspired souffle pancakes here are freshly made, light and fluffy, and for $3, you get two slices, generously drizzled with your choice of chocolate, caramel or strawberry sauce. Oh, and did we mention the desserts here are halal?
