A private chef and sommelier, 34-year-old Zachary Tay cut his teeth the old-school way – working up the rungs of the culinary ladder armed with fierce tenacity and a thirst to learn. Having spent 4 years working in the kitchens of several local and international hotels, Zachary made a career move to marry his love for food with his passion for wine, serving as sommelier at French institution, Les Amis. Though he favours modern techniques and light elegant flavours, Zachary finds favourites in ginger, coriander and laksa leaves, which he admits to adding to his dishes where possible. Should he emerge top in Eat List Star, Zachary hopes to make his mark with a project that would highlight the beauty of food and wine pairings.
